I slept amazing in my new room, so amazing I was really sad when I had to wake up. I was nervous too, today was the day I would start 'training'. I wasn't really sure what to expect.
I glanced at the clock. It was about eleven, these people hadn't given me a specific time, but I felt as if maybe I had slept in too late...
I left the room, heading for the living area and the kitchen. When I made it there, no one was in the room but Samuel, who was sitting at the table reading a book.
"Wow, I was about to check and see if you were still alive in there." He said, looking up. I blushed.
"I've never really woken up all that early." I said. "I never really had a whole lot to do...." Well, I had woken up to watch the other kids go to school, but a lot of the time I'd gotten bored and gone back to sleep.
"It's alright. Would you like breakfast? Though I suppose it's more like lunchtime now." He said.
"Umm, sure." I replied, realizing that I was hungry. "What do you guys have?"
"Most of the things we have need to be cooked... I could make you a sandwich, or you could have cereal." He said.
"I'll have that." I said, having a bowl.
"Now let's head out to the field, the others are waiting." Said Sam when I was done. I followed him outside. Like he said, the others were there. Kira was on her knees, bent over and... talking to a cat? Seriously, having a conversation with it. Meanwhile, Lita and James were over nearby, kicking around a soccer ball. Then Lita disappeared, tripping him from behind. The soccer ball disappeared as well, reappearing as it rolled into what I assumed was a make-shift goal. James sat up, spitting out grass he face planted into.
"That's not fair Lita!" He shouted. I heard her laughing, though I still couldn't see her. James looked over at me.
"There you are! I figured you'd gone into a coma." He said.
"How early do you guys wake up?!" I asked."I don't know. Earlier than you did." He replied with a shrug.
"Alright Leila, it's time to begin." Sam said. Kira stood up, waving goodbye to the cat. Weird...
"We should practice fighting!" She said excitedly. "Like... Regular fighting. That's the first thing all of us learned. And we can't hurt each other too bad, or lose control."
"I don't know..." Sam said. "I figured we would start with control, her powers seem to go off from even the slightest disturbance..."
"This could help with control!" Kira said. "Please! I love fighting, and this time I might actually win..." Wow, this girl got excited about everything. Including apparently beating me at fighting. I gave her a confused look. "What?" She asked defensively. "Lita always disappears and trips me, and James is way stronger! Is it really bad to want to win just once against someone who hasn't fought yet?" Sam sighed.
"Sorry, it's too soon for that." He said. "Listen Leila, stay calm. Whenever you get nervous, scared or angry, whenever your emotions flare up, it seems like that's when you lose control. So you have to stay calm." I nodded.
"What is it that I can even do?" I asked.
"We're not exactly sure what you're capable of yet, we just know you're powerful." Sam replied. "And you have to keep that power under control."
"I'll try..." I said. I wasn't sure how, but I guessed I could try and stay calm.
"Oh, right, I guess we can't fight today." Kira said with a sigh. "Let's start then. Sam you usually teach right?"
