Nervously, I paced the hallway outside of Dalila's bedroom. After I had hit Derek and Dalila with whatever that burst of energy was, before I had even a chance to react, the elementals had whisked the two away. It seems like they had something similar to this happen before, I mean they knew how to react. The door opened and Brisa stepped out, a worried expression on her usual cheerful face.
"Brisa."
She looked up at me, her eyes softening. "Oh... Hello Leila."
"How is she?" I asked nervously.
Brisa smiled at me, "She's... Alive."
I frowned and took a seat on a sofa outside the room. "That's good to hear in the least."I whispered, putting my head back.
Walking over, Brisa sat beside me, "You shouldn't be worried Leila, it was only an accident. Derek and Dalila will be fine. They're just, worn out as though it would seem."
"But Brisa, I used hexteria magic. Patriarch told me not to and yet I-"
"Oh no, that was indeed an elemental spell."
"Wait it was?!" I asked, "There's no way... That looked like none of the spells you guys were using."
"That's because none of us wield that element." She replied quietly. "The element you used is known as one of the most powerful of all the elements. It's very difficult to use and quite rare."
"Well, what element was it?" I asked.
Brisa looked me in the eyes, "Lightning."
"L-lightning?" I briefly remembered Brisa mentioning something about lightning to Patriarch earlier. "But that's not really an element... Is it?"
She nodded, "It is. It is also one of the most complex elemental powers. Lightning is made up of earth, air, and water spells. That is the basic 'coding' to a lightning sorcerer."
"So wait," I began, "Does that mean if you, Dalila, and Lorelei combine your powers you could make a lightning sorcerer."
"Leila, that is a topic for.. Next time you come here."
"Why not now?" I questioned.
Brisa sighed and stood up, "Unfortunately, there's a lot you don't know, it was just destined to be that way. As sad as it is, any person who is cursed by Thanatos can't live a carefree life. Everyone, whether they be hexteria or elemental are forced to live in fear. No one should have live like that, and that's part of the reason I'm so scared for you Leila. You were born into this chaos, you had no choice, and yet we have put so much pressure and reliance on you. In all honesty, it's not fair. You hardly know anything about our way of life, and yet we are relying on you to save us from him."
"If it's a prophecy that one who is born with the magical abilities of Thanatos himself will be the one to defeat him, I'll take the risk. I'd gladly risk anything, my life is nothing compared to all the people that will die if Thanatos takes over." I said.
Brisa shook her head that me, "You truly are special Leila. Not because of your powers, but because of your heart." She motioned me to follow, "Come on, I'm sure both Dalila and Derek would like to see you."
I got up and began to follow her, my anxiety returning. What if they're mad at me for taking it too far? We visited Dalila first. When the door to her bedroom opened, I wasn't exactly surprised to see Dalila reading a book in bed.
"Dalila," Brisa called softly.
Dalila lowered the book and her eyes met mine, "Oh, hey Leila..."
