I'm in New York! I am in New York because tonight I am hosting and performing on SNL!
This has been a dream I've had since Taylor Swift's monologue song, but I never thought about how much work went into this one day. I've been rehearsing, picking outfits, hanging out with Weenie, and now I'm finally in my hotel room to shower before going to see Luke sign his first NHL contract.
We're all very excited and proud of him for taking the next step in his career. I swear this is all we've talked about. Well in between gushing over our new puppy, we'll talk about how great it's going to be watching all three Hughes brothers play in the league. I'm not sure if I'll be able to be in attendance for what we've been calling 'Hugheschella' but I'm going to try my absolute best to be there.
The thought continues to linger in my head as I walk to the door where a few sets of loud knocks are heard. I open in my outfit for today with semi-wet hair feeling a push against my shoulder. "Move! Hi Weens!" My brother says, shoving me out of the way while everyone else hugs and greets me before meeting my new puppy.
"Good to see you guys too." Jack says as everyone fully ignores him as they gush over the playful puppy on the floor, running to everyone for scratches and kisses. "Who cares." Quinn says, rolling his eyes at his younger brother before petting Weenie on the head. I watch Jack nod sarcastically with his lips pursed.
He moves out of the way to walk over to me but catches Weenie's attention. Without another thought our puppy runs out of the circle to follow his Dad making Jack smile. "You're no traitor." He says, kissing his nose before scratching a very content Weenie behind the ears. Everyone stares at Jack and says hello in a very polite manner trying to make up for ignoring him in the first place.
Jack shakes his head at our friends, passing a treat to Theo since Weenie won't pay attention to anyone else if Jack is around unless they have a toy or a treat. Just as we thought the sweet puppy forgets about the man holding him and wiggles out to the ground to get the tasty treat in Theo's palm.
I watch the exchange from the restroom, applying a light amount of makeup since I'll have to wash it off later when professionals do my makeup on SNL. Once I hear everyone say goodbye to Weenie I tuck my hair behind my ears and throw on some silver hoops. I grab my phone, my purse, and nothing else before I make us late.
After I lock the hotel room and step into the elevator I feel like I forgot something. I can't think of what I missed but as I go to fidget with one of my rings I realize that I forgot them. "Fuck my rings!" I curse, looking at my naked fingers that have nothing to adorn them. Before I can drop my hands back to my sides Jack fishes out all of my rings and hands each one to me.
"I grabbed them on our way out." he says, watching me slip on each ring. I press my lips to his cheek, then pull out the tissue he keeps in his pocket for times like this and wipe my lipstick off of his face. "You're my favorite." I tell him, fighting the urge to kiss him again so I just lean into his side to feel the warmth of his body.
As the elevator doors open I immediately take Jack's hand and start walking towards the screaming. The entrance to my hotel has now been barricaded with security to make sure no one slips through. I hear my name along with Jack, Quinn, and Luke's get shouted, doing anything to get our attention.
I wave at everyone, smiling and pointing at a girl who brought a hockey puck with her wearing Jack's jersey. Unfortunately, we can't stop since we have somewhere to be but when Jack locks eyes with the girl he gives her a thumbs up. "Nice jersey." he says to her before helping me in the car with a hand on my back.
