"Come back home to me," Samayara said, kissing Evyaan's lips softly as he let the comfort wash over him for the first time in days.
The bell rang, breaking their moment, and they quickly secured their seats as a few other students began to fill the classroom.
Evyaan glared at them and cursed under his breath, while Samayara giggled, taking the inner seat and holding his hand under the desk. The lecture still had a long time to begin.
Evyaan's gaze traveled from her hand to her face as he finally asked the question he'd been holding in since visiting her house.
"You barely slept, didn't you?" he said with a small sigh. She rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"And there goes all my hard work covering up my dark circles," she whined.
"Seriously, even Kiaan said I'm glowing—how the hell can you tell I haven't slept?"
She tried to pull her hand away, but he held it tighter.
"It's not about concealer or glow," he said, pressing his face into his palms as he rested his elbows on the desk, a soft yet sad smile on his lips.
"You could try to hide it from me, angel, but I'll always see through these exterior. I was meant to." Samayara smiled, her heart swelling at the sudden confession, realizing they both felt exactly the same way about each other.
"Attention, students! Due to some health issues, your lecturer for the day won't be able to make it. The next lecturer will follow the timetable as usual, but this period is a proxy. No one is allowed to leave the classroom," the supervisor announced sharply from the doorway.
His voice left no room for questions. Without another word, he turned and left, the door clicking shut behind him.
Evyaan sighed as Samayara yawned again and took out her books.
"Sleep," he said softly, taking her book from her.
She shook her head.
"Why?" he asked, his brows drawing together, concern etched into every line of his face.
