𝗧𝗪: little mentions of child abuse.

Evelyn had a big heart, despite her life growing up. She is a pretty girl, no denying that. But, having a pretty faces comes with the down side. Her mother.

Evelyn's mom was jealous of her daughter. All the attention. She wanted it, even for just a second.  She would do anything.

Her mother meant that. Anything. The first round of abuse Evelyn had gone through was at the age of 9. Ms. Hart gave her a slight black eye for gaining attention while at the store. Said she was "asking for it".

Her mother got what she wanted in the end. Evelyn only stayed in 3 places. School, Mikes house, and her bedroom at the end of every day. She didn't want to be hurt by the person who was supposed to love her and protect her unconditionally.

Even after all of that, Ms. Hart kept laying her hands on her daughter until Evelyn was 18. Either for fun, to let anger out, or to remind Evelyn that she wasn't wanted by her mother.

Evelyn never knew her father. The only place she could go to, to feel safe, was her bestfriend Mike's house. She spent all her time there, not wanting to go back to her mothers abusive hands. Little did she know, it wouldn't change anything.

Mike was the only person who knew what Evelyn endured while she was at her house, and he hated it. He despised his bestfriends mother. He never wanted her to leave his house every night. But even with all the begging he did, Evelyn still went home each and every night.

Mike's parents were never told the truth of what Evenly has to deal with. Mike wanted to tell them and get his bestfriend help, but he didn't, do to the request of Evelyn. Evelyn always told his parents that she's just a very clumsy kid, anytime she was asked about a mark or bruise on her body. She didn't want to be a burden to anyone else, so she kept the real truth hidden.

By the time Evelyn was 18, she left and never looked back. Never left a letter or told anybody. Not even Mike. As you can imagine, Mike was heartbroken. Evelyn was there when his brother was taken. She was there for the birth of his little sister. She was there for his 19th birthday. She was just always there, he could rely on her. Why wouldn't she let him be there for her?

Mike was very stressed. He wanted his bestfriend back. Was she safe? Is she okay? Where is she? Why didn't she tell him that she was leaving? Who is she with now? Does she need his help? Did she not want to be near him anymore? Did he do something wrong? He wouldn't get those answered anytime soon.

Mike didn't stop thinking about their time together. Their sleepovers, their first days of school together, Evelyn holding his baby sister for the first time, the late night talks on his roof under his bedroom window, him calming her down from her panic attacks, and the very first time they met. He missed her, so badly. He wondered if he would ever see her again.

Evelyn, on the other hand, didn't know where to go. She didn't have a car, a job, or money. She just left. She needed to get away. And she did, she got out. Evelyn deeply regretted not telling Mike. She didn't want him to worry about her, so she didn't give him a notice. She didn't want him trying to change her mind. Knowing him, he would've offered to stay with him and she didn't want to be a hassle he had to deal with.

Evelyn eventually got a job at a coffee shop called Sparky's. She met a man named Andre and pursued a relationship with him. He offered his place, his car, and his "love". Evelyn not knowing what kind of guy he was, she took him up on the offers.

6 years after leaving, Evelyn is back on the run. This time, back to Mike.
