"It's really extraordinary" Abby's teacher told Mike and Evelyn as they entered a classroom where Abby sat playing blocs with other little girls. "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it." Evelyn looked up at Mike as he wrapped his arm around her, "Yeah, we will."

"Mike! Aunt Evie!" Abby yelled as she ran to her family. She wrapped her arms around both adults and they didn't hesitate to wrap her up. Evelyn ruffled her hair, "Hey sweetie. Why don't you get your stuff so we can head on home."

Abby nodded and ran to her cubby to grab her belongings. Abby's teacher looked over at Abby's caregivers, "You guys are doing great. She's happy, healthy, and is very smart. Most importantly, she's loved." Evelyn gave a warm smile. Abby ran up to them and said a quick goodbye to her teacher before dragging Mike and Evelyn outside.

"It's not that hard. What do you guys want for dinner? Pizza or spaghetti?" Abby and Evelyn shared a look before both said 'both'. Mike let out a small chuckle, "You got to choose. Which is it?"

Evelyn looked over at him, "Um. We clearly want both." Mike gave her a look before looking at Abby in the rear view mirror, "You can't have both."

"Spaghetti with meatballs." Abby finally chose. "Alright, with meatballs." Evelyn turned in her seat to look at the little girl, "Good choice kid." A comfortable silence washed over the family before Mike spoke again, "Um, we're gonna make a quick stop, okay"

Mike and Evelyn were in Vanessa's hospital room while Abby sat in the waiting room. "Vanessa, I don't know if you can hear any of this, but um.. were having a hard time just trying processing everything that happened. But you were there for us when it mattered the most. I don't think that any of us would be here today if it weren't for you. So.. so get better. We'll be here when you wake up." Mike looked over at Evelyn, "Do you want to say anything?"

Evelyn shook her head 'no' with a small smile, "You said it all." Mike lightly smiled before grabbing Evelyn's hand and walking out of the room. Once they were in the waiting room, Mike took Abby's bag, "Did you tell her I said hi?" Abby asked. "I did," Mike replied. "Alright, let's get out of here.

Mike opened the fridge and grabbed something to drink. Evelyn sat next to the girl at the table who looked a little sad, "You okay?" Abby held her fork in the air, "I was just thinking about my friends. They're all alone. No one takes care of them anymore." Mike came and sat down near the girls.

Abby, who looked very hesitant, decided to just rip the band aid off and ask her question, "Can we visit them sometime?" Mikes eyes grew big, as did Evelyn's. They barely survived last time, why would she want to go back? Evelyn nudged Mike," Um..." Mike looked at the hopeful look on his sister's face, he didn't want to break her heart. "You know what? You never know what can happen."

Abby seemed pleased with his answer, so she gave him a big smile. Evelyn decided to lighten the mood, "Do you think if you drink enough milk, you just turn into a cow?" Abby let out a laugh before saying 'no'. "Would you start, like, getting sports on you like a cow?" The family let out a laugh as they finished their dinner with a positive mood engulfing them.
