"Everything's better swimming in ketchup. Right, Mike?" He had done it again, he was back. The day Garrett was taken. Everything was the same, the soda spilling, the yellow frisbee, the car pulling away, everything. Everything was how it had happened. "Garrett!" Mike yelled as the car was taking off.
All of a sudden, he could hear leaves bein crushed behind him. Mike turned around and was met with five kids. One was wearing bunny ears, one had a hook on his hand, another had a top hat on, the little girl was wearing all yellow, and a blonde headed boy seemed to have nothing out of the ordinary on, yet he was the one in front of the others.
Mike stared in shock, "What is this?" No response. "Who are you?" Silence. Mike tried again, "That car. Did you see that car? You see what happened?" Nothing. The boy in front just looked at Mike with a blank face. "Did you see who took my brother?"
All of a sudden, the kids ran. All in different directions. "Wait! No." Mike started to chase the blonde boy. He ran and ran, until a tree was knocked down and laying in his path. The boy had quick thinking, and he ducked. Mike on the other hand, had tripped over a rock.
Evelyn was startled to see Mike fly from his chair. "Mike! Oh my gosh, are you okay?" Evelyn said as she rushed to him, kneeling on the ground next to him. Mike watch goes off, it's 6AM. Mike sat himself against the desk, trying to catch his breath. "Did you have the dream?" Evelyn asked as she sat next to him.
Mike looked over at her and nodded. But wait, he didn't have his pills. How? How was that possible? Evelyn just rubbed Mike's back, hoping to calm him down. After Mikes breath was back to normal, they both locked the place up and headed home.
Mike unlocked the house door and ushered Evelyn in. Mike entered the house and shut if. The couple were both greeted with the sight of Max waking up. "Hey." Max spoke as she stretched the sleep out of her. "Hey Max." Mike replied as he hung his jacket up, while Evelyn had made her way to go see Abby.
"So? How'd it go?" Max had asked Mike. Mike was sitting in his rocking chair. He looked over at her, "Uh... it was interesting.". Mike just stared at the black TV screen. Max nodded her head and stood up, "I should probably get out of here."
"Hey, by the way, I-I do intend on-on paying you, eventually." Max gave Mike an understanding smile and then joked, "It's okay. I know where you live." Max left the house and followed Evelyn and went to Abby's room. When he entered, Evelyn was sitting on the bed, brushing Abby's hair out of her face.
Mike was staring at Evelyn with admiration. She was just so good to them. Abby was still fast asleep, holding her teddy bear. Mike and Evelyn just watched the girl sleep peacefully for a little while.
