Lainey's P.O.V

"Maverick, I promise I'm fine." I laughed as he opened the door to his apartment.

"Really that busted lip says other words." I just rolled my eyes as I followed him. Shockingly it was a pretty neat apartment for a guy that was living on his own.

I followed him into his room and into his bathroom where he went digging through his cabinet for stuff.

"Maverick, I promise nothing is that bad."

"You're a stubborn little thing aren't you." He huffed standing up to face me. Damn, this man was hot.

He shocked me when he grabbed me by the waist and put me down on the sink. I had no time to stop the wince of pain that left my body.

The look that he gave me sent chills down my spine.

"Took a few hits to the side. Nothing too bad." I smiled but he just rolled his eyes.

He started rummaging through the box he had filled with stuff to fix me up.

"Why do you have so much stuff?" I asked as he brought a towel up to my head to fix the cut on my head. I jumped up a little but knew he was only helping.

"I used to be into fighting not too long ago. Some nights I'd come home with cuts on my hands and a few on my face, nothing too bad."

"Got anything you could teach me?" I cracked a smile.

"Yeah, don't fight."

"Ahhh what fun is that?" He put a bandage over the cut on my eye and fixed up my lip before helping me down.

"It keeps your pretty little lips harm-free so maybe don't fight." He said with a little laugh as he moved away going to his closest.

"Airs bed is in here. You can borrow one of my shirts. I'm sure you don't want to stay in that dress any longer."

I looked down at it and remembered the day that I went to pick it out with my sister. Back before I knew what was going on. Back before when I thought I was protecting her from the stuff that was going on.

"Thank you for this," I said seeing him come out with a bad black t-shirt.

"It's no problem."

"I know but it still means a lot to me." His eyes looked into mine and damn I wanted him to kiss me.

"Come on, I'll show you the house."

He walked me over to my apartment which was right next to his and he found the key that was under a mat.

"Mr. Frank said it would be here."

"Great security." I laughed, stepping through the door as he opened it and walking into the same apartment set up as his. The only difference is this one had nothing in it.

"Like you need it Rocky."

I just rolled my eyes walking over to the window to look at the little town around me.

Mavericks POV

I watched as she walked her way over to the window to look at the town.

The dress she still has on was a haunting reminder to not only me but to her of what she's been through today. She had to be extremely tired.

I quickly went to the bedroom and started to get to work on getting this mattress set up. I walked back into my apartment and grabbed a few blankets and a couple of pillows for her to use till she could get a bed for herself.

When I came back, she was in the bathroom and the bed was almost filled.

I made the bed up and tested it out to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with it.

Getting off of it I heard the door open, and I turned to see her come out in nothing but a t-shirt, and damn it was a sight I wanted to keep seeing.

Her hair was down out of the updo she had it in and it looked like she had tried her best to tame it. It was all the way down to the back of her.

"You good there Mav?" She asked to see me check her out. I was on her long tan legs right where my shirt stopped which was only to mid-thigh and it was driving me crazy.

"Yeah, just not used to this, you've been in a dress all day."

"Yeah, I wear normal clothes too."

I turned around fast, needing to get my eyes off of her.

"The bed is made. My sister will be over tomorrow to help you out with getting some clothes and all. I'm sure you two can figure out the furniture.

She walked around me and plopped right down onto the air mattress.

"Thanks again for this Maverick. I promise once I can I'll repay you."

"Don't worry about it. I'm just happy you're safe." Looking down at her I saw this girl was just a young thing that was hiding a lot of pain that I could see behind those eyes. It hurt me so much to see this and I wanted nothing more but to grab her and just hold her.

"Well, goodnight." I was quick to get the hell out of there because if I stayed any longer, I would have let my thoughts win. I don't want to scare the girl and I also don't want to do this to my sister.
