Lainey's POV

As I heard the door close, I looked around the room at the emptiness.

For the first time in years, I was on my own. I was finally all on my own. It was a weird feeling. It was something I didn't know how to describe except to say it was cold.

I laid back down on the air mattress and felt my body welcoming the sleep it just so desperately wanted after this hell of a day.

I jumped awake when I heard the banging at my door, and I looked around the room almost not sure what was going on. Then it hit me.

I jumped up fast, rushing to the front door and opening it to let Hanna come walking through.

"Wow, we got a lot of work to do here."

"Good morning to you too." I laughed while closing the door.

"It's 1 in the afternoon but sure." I had no clock in here, so I had no idea.

"I got you ice coffee." She turned to me, and I saw the coffee in one hand and a bag in the other.

"You're a Saint." I took the coffee and walked over to the breakfast bar.

"I also have shower stuff and some clothes for you to put on so we can go get you some today and maybe even some furniture."

"That would be great. While I'm here I should probably find a job."

"Already on it. My brother said he would let you work at the bar."

I would now be working with this man...it's like I couldn't get away from him.

"Oh no I don't want to do that I'm sure I can-"

"Ohhh come on I promise he's a good boss and he's hardly there."

Well, if he's never there, it wouldn't be too bad.

"So, you go get ready and I'll think of some spots to take you to!"

She handed me the bag and I took it into the bathroom right away.

Once I got in the shower, I was quick to get cleaned off and then got out to find the clothes she had for me, a nice top and a skirt. The first stop while I was here would be getting bras and underwear because going commando was not fun for me.

"Let's go shopping!" She said as I came out of the bathroom pulling me with her fast.

By the end of this shopping spree, I was out of breath and felt like I was in an 80-year old's body.

I dropped into the seat at the bar and put my head down on the bar.

"I'll take a glass of wine," Hanna said, all cheery and calm to her brother who was behind the bar.

"Water," I said softly, lifting my head to look at him.

"You look like you've been through it..."

"Your sister had me in every clothing store in this area."

He chuckled and put my water right in front of me.

"She had fun!! But now we need some of the furniture from Franks' house." Hanna said as she started sipping on her wine.

"Did Mr. Frank say that was ok?"Mav questioned, leaning back as he crossed his arms which made his chest bigger in the black shirt he was wearing. It was hard not to look.

"Yes, he did, and he also was ok with you taking Lainey to get it."

"What," we both said looking at Hanna.

"Yeah, I don't have a truck and unfortunately I have to get home to get to my computer for work now soooo..." she turned to her brother with a smile "You have a truck and you're done here at 4 today so I thought you wouldn't mind doing her a favor."

"It's fine I don't need furniture," I said quickly feeling horrible that I had put this man out of his way yet again.
