Laineys POV.
"Thank you so much Gabe." I woke to the sound of Maverick talking on the phone. I turned to the side of the bed and he was sitting up in bed with his back up on the head board. He saw me waking up and pulled me into his side.

"That's great news. I'll talk to you tomorrow more about this. it's late buddy you should get some rest." he let out a little laugh as he looked down at me."Yeah I have my hands tied right now...go home to your wife I'm sure she misses you. see ya."

he put his phone down and wrapped his arms around me pulling me to lay on him. "I'm sorry to wake you. Gabe called me to tell me that Derick is going to comply with the restraining order we got on him."

"That's great!" the best news I had heard in a while. It has made me feel so much better now going out.

"I just have to give him his keys tomorrow and the card you have and then he's out of here." I had almost forgotten about that.

"Do you think you could ask him about my sister...I don't know where she is right now and I deleted her number." he gave me a side eye as soon as i said the last part.

"I found out she was sleeping with my ex. Do you really think I wanted to keep her in my life." the side eye went away. "I just want to know she's ok."

"I'll see what he says. for now why don't we go back to sleep." I pushed him down while sitting up. his eyes got wide as he looked up at me.

"I think I have a better idea." I started kissing his chest till I got to the spot that made him let out a sigh. I smiled to myself as I put my lips around him.

"Fuck Lainey." he gripped the sheets throwing his head back a little. My time didn't last long before he was pulling me up to face him again. He was breathing heavily and I smiled.

"I don't want to finish just yet." he flipped us so that I was under him and in seconds he was pushing into me. my arms gripped his shoulders as I held on for dear life as this cowboy took me away.

Maverick POV.

The next week I spent most of it trying to find Laineys sister. that Derick guy said he hadn't seen her in a week since she ran off. That's something the Holt sisters got in common.I know she never wanted to see her again but i thought she would like to know where she was at least. Gabe was helping me as much as he could as well. It was something I just wanted to give Lainey too, maybe take some stress from her.

"Anything?" Frank asked as I walked out form the back of the bar to start doing some work. He had started to come to the bar more often and not to drink. He was invested in getting to know his daughter and would talk to her as much as he could while she was working.

"No, I can't find anything. She's not on any of her social media right now and her friends said she hasn't been back to the apartment in weeks now."

"Just like their mother." he laughed a little. "I guess they don't know any better."

I grabbed a glass and started to clean it off when the door opened letting the night air hit us all. my eyes went to the door and my heart just about dropped out of my ass.

"I'm locking the damn door after the regulars are in here." Ethan hissed seeing who I was seeing with a baby in hand.

"Hey Maverick." her voice rang through the bar. A voice I used to love so much. Now it was just daggers being thrown at me.

Her Red hair swung to one side as she lifted the boy on her him up a little more. my eyes went from between her and him and in the moment I was thinking  that locking the damn door might not be a bad fucking idea.

I pushed her into my office and turned around, closing the door fast not wanting Lainey to see because she was coming to work real soon.

"Abby, what the hell do you think you're doing here?" I hissed, turning around to face my problem head on.
"Hi, Hello nice to see you too Maverick."

"Cut the shit...He's not mine right.'' I pointed to the little baby that was playing with a little toy on her lap as she sat on the couch.

A sad smile went over her face. "I don't know yet."

"The fuck is that supposed to mean Abby."
"Mav please...I know what I did was wrong. We both wanted different things." She put the boy down next to her as he held himself up and entertained himself. She got up coming to me.

"I'm In town to find out if West is your son or not. but."

"No Buts."

"Damit Maverick and you stop being a child. I know what I did was so wrong, but I'm ready now." and the thing that shocked me the most was her rushing in to kiss me. her lips hit mine and my door popped open and I pushed Abby so fast off of me.

I saw Laineys eyes go from happy to sad in seconds. she looked between Abby and i and then her eyes fell to West.

"Your lucky theres a kid here our your ass would be on the fucking floor." she said looking at Abby who was very taken back from that.

"Lainey.'' I went to grab her but she pulled her arm away from me and gave me the coldest look I have ever seen.

"Stay the hell away from me Maverick."  she rushed out of here but I followed her. She grabbed her father by the arm and pulled him to walk out with her. I saw them speak a little and he looked back at me with so much disappointment in his eyes that it hurt me seeing it.

I rushed back into my office fired up and pissed off. "Get the fuck out." I screamed seeing her sitting in my chair.

"Maverick, please we should talk." I picked up West carrying him to her and grabbing her, ripping her out of my chair and walking them both to my door.

"You wanted to chase the fame of being a singer. Now that it didn't work out and you have a kid doesnt mean I want this back. come back when you have the results. till then get the fuck out of my life." I handed West to her and stepped back into my office and  I slammed the door in her face.

I don't know what came over me but I walked right to the closet and took out my old secret stash and took a hold of a whisky bottle. This was an old familiar feeling I hadn't missed. I popped the cap off the bottle and sat back in my seat letting the old darkness become me again.
