Mavericks POV

I had given Lainey the day. She was supposed to work tonight but I thought it was best if she and Hanna went out together. she didn't need to come back here just yet.

Ethan and I were working at the bar when the door opened.

"Mr. Frank!" Ethan said with a bright smile but we both knew what this meant. I got a glass and started to pour his favorite beer. He looked very lost right now. He was looking around as if there was something or someone he wanted.

"Mr. Frank... Do you want me to give you a ride home?" I asked keeping the beer in my hand.

he shook his head as he stepped into the bar coming to me with a crazed look.

"Where is she?"

"Where is who?" Ethan came to my side fast seeing how the man was. a few people had started to look at us now causing a scene in the bar. I had hid what happened here last night pretty well and now I have this.

"Lainey." Why the hell was this man worried about Lainey?

"She's at home tonight."  he turned around fast and started to make his way to the doors and I was fast to get from behind the bar to follow him. Ethan knew he was incharge of the bar now.

"FRANK!" I called running out after him as he made his way to his car. I grabbed his door before he could get in.

"I need to talk to her now." he hissed trying to pull on the door but I wasn't letting him go.

"What for?" I was being pretty calm right now but I was ready to grab this man and hold him by his shirt till he told me.

"Beacause she's my fucking daughter." he hissed turning around to face me and I saw all the rage in his eyes. it took a second to register what he had just told me.

Frank was at the door before I was and he had the spare key out already. I wanted to stop him but part of me still didn't think this was true.

The door was pushed open and we both came eye to eye with Lainey as she got up off her couch. her smile dropped and I could see it in her eyes. She wanted to run. Hell I would if I saw Frank like he is right now.

He stepped into the house letting his hands fall to his sides as he looked at Lainey like she was a ghost.

"I'll Leave you two." Laineys eyes looked to me almost to have pleaded with me not to leave. I didn't want to but this was not my place to stay.

Laineys POV

I watched as the door closed with Maverick leaving me here with my father looking right into my soul. When I thought of this moment I thought it would be over coffee and I would be better prepared for it.

"You look so much like your mother. I don't know how I didn't see it right away." he said so softly. I looked down at my ring that was the only thing I had left from her.

"Would you like something to drink?" I made a move to my kitchen and he followed asking for water. I quickly filled up a glass and gave it to him before leaning into my counter crossing my arms.

"I can't believe you are here.'' I laughed a little. I pulled the counter open and pulled out a stack of papers and slid them to him.

"I have had these since I was 20. When mom died I thought I would reach out to you and let you know. it's all the information about you that I could get. helps working for a lawyer and using the resources they have"

'Why didn't you." was all he said and it almost hurt my heart a little.

"Mom said you didn't care about us. you left her while she was pregnant with Maddie and when I was only 3. Didn't see a reason to reach out and let you know." I said that as if it never hurt me. as if I wasn't told everyday of my life that my father didn't love us enough to stay. I can't lie this all hurt me so much and yeah I wanted to run but it was like my feet were glued to the floor. the dry laugh that came from him as he shook his head "She lied to you."

Those 4 words were enough to set me back. My mother a liar? there were a lot of things she was but that wasn't one of them.

"She told you I left?" I nodded my head remembering all the times I asked her where daddy was growing up.

"Lainey...your mother and I were not meant to be. As soon as she was pregnant with Maddie I realized she was just using the both of you to make me stay. I loved you two with all my heart but your mother and I just could not make it work. I wanted to see you two. We made a plan where I would get you both every other weekend. your mother ran." I had no words. I couldn't think of anything to say to this new information. how could I tell it was the truth. all I've known is what my mother had told me.

"She packed up one day and was gone. no note and no goodbye."

"And you never looked for us."

A small sad smile went to his face. "Lainey even if I did find you guys which I tried to...your mother would have ran again."

"How do I know if what you're saying is true."He went right for his pocket and pulled out an old slip of a newspaper. There in a black and white was a photo of me and my mother. The photo talked about how a pregnant woman was on the run with this child and that the father was looking for them both.

tears filled my eyes as I looked at what I was seeing. "A year ago I wrote to you and your sister. Gabe had done some searching and we thought we found where you guys were still living" my head snapped back to him "I never heard back so I just thought I had gotten the wrong address or maybe you two didn't want to talk to me."

"I never got it.'' I said softly, sliding the photo back to him not being able to look at my mothers face right now.

"Lainey I wanted to know you and your sister. I'm so sorry that this is how things worked out." I didn't know what to think right now. "But maybe now we could have a chance here now that you're back."

I quickly nodded my head and he smiled, grabbing my arm and pulling me into him for a hug and I let the tears fall. for the first time I was hugging my father who I knew was out there. This was such a crazy moment right now that my emotions were all over the palace.

"Where is Maddie?"

"Oh dad, do we have a lot to talk about."
