Vibha and Rupa entered the room, holding the newborn, their brother's son. Following behind were Angad and Chandra. They pleaded with their father-in-law, Lakshman, not to depart.
Lakshman remained calm and resolute, understanding the depth of their concern. He assured them that his decision was made and couldn't be altered. Despite their imploring, he was firm in his resolve.
"I appreciate your concern, but this is something I've decided," Lakshman said softly, embracing them with compassion.
The room held a somber air as they all grappled with the weight of the impending decision.
Lakshman, observing the evident worry etched across Rupa's and Vibha's faces, placed his hand gently on Rupa's shoulder and looked at Vibha with a reassuring smile.
"Daughters, I understand your concerns. Life often throws challenges at us that seem insurmountable, but we must remain resolute," Lakshman began, his tone steeped in reassurance. "You're both resilient, capable, and possess the strength to navigate the adversities that may come your way."
Rupa gazed at him with teary eyes, "But how can we find the strength, father? Everything feels overwhelming, and we are going to lose you. It's as if the world is collapsing around us."
Vibha nodded in agreement, her voice trembling slightly, "You've been our guiding light. Losing you would leave an irreplaceable void."
Lakshman looked at them with a blend of empathy and encouragement. "You both carry the legacy of our family's valor and strength. You've been steadfast pillars in this household, embodying the very essence of courage and wisdom."
With a warm smile, he continued, "Every challenge shapes us, makes us stronger, and enlightens us. The bond we share, not just as family but as individuals, will sustain us through even the darkest of times."
Rupa reached for his hand, holding it tightly. "Your words give us solace, father. But the thought of parting with you is unbearable."
Lakshman sighed softly, "Remember, daughters, our lives are a continuum. The love, values, and teachings we share persist through generations. Though I may not be physically present, my lessons and love will always guide you."
Vibha interjected with a fervent plea, "But can't you reconsider, stay with us, guide us in person?"
Lakshman, with a serene resolve, said, "I wish I could, but the paths we tread are often dictated by destinies we can't alter. However, I will always be with you, watching over from a realm beyond."
Their tear-filled eyes met his, expressing both admiration and sorrow. He embraced both daughters-in-law in a gesture of comfort, holding them close.
Lakshman goes to Angad and Chandra, his two adult sons, embracing them.
"Sons, your roles as fathers and husbands hold immense significance. The way you carry yourselves in these responsibilities will shape your lives and those around you," Lakshman begins, his words carrying the weight of experience.
He continues, "Your mother and Uncle Ram—your guidance, care, and love will mean the world to them. The strength of a family resides in how you support each other through life's highs and lows." He looks at them intently, ensuring his words resonate deeply. "You're not just supporting individuals; you're upholding the honor and values of our lineage. I trust you both to carry these virtues forward."
Angad and Chandra listen with rapt attention, acknowledging the gravity of their father's counsel. "We understand, Father," Angad responds earnestly, with a nod from Chandra indicating his agreement.
The door slowly creaks open, and Devansh, Lakshman's son-in-law, steps into the room. Lakshman's face lights up with a warm smile as he regards the younger man. "Devansh, take good care of yourself," Lakshman says, his tone embracing both warmth and concern. "You're going to be a father soon. Look after Somada and the little one." There's a twinge of sorrow in Lakshman's voice as he realizes he won't be there to witness the birth of Somada's child.
