The Eye of the Dragon

Prologue

5 years before King Viserys came to power his wife gave birth to another daughter. "Tis a girl" Viserys looked at the dying child in front of him and the healthy babe in his arms. The dying girl was not given a name until her 4th day for fear she would die. The boy that was healthy died 2 days later from fever. And the prince would never forgive his poor child. "Come Daemon" The king of the time said to the young boy of 17. "This babe has not been named like her brother. She may well die before her first year. What should her name be, Prince, so she may be called that in the stories. The young prince looked at the dying babe that he had picked up in his arms and as he stared into her purple eyes he spoke "Aerea" The boy whispered.

In the years after the prince and the girl became closer and the tiny child told him of everything she could, including her dreams. As the girl grew she began to have dreams that would reveal the future of the family. And whenever she told the old king and young prince of this they made her promise that she would never tell anyone else. Soon the prince left her to be married and promised her he would return. With her friend gone and Jaehaerys dying the girl retreated to the skies and would not come out from her room when at the keep. Her only appearance to the people was when she snuck off to the streets and when the king died she came out to see her uncle.

She looked at the man, now the heir of her father and smiled. He was older and looked taller, stronger and more mature but she knew he was not. "Aerea" Daemon said with a smile as he ran toward the little five year old and hoisted her up into his arms. " A gift for you." He said as he handed her a small dagger made of the same steel as his sword. He had a connection to her and had been waiting to see her for the last three years. He had named her, raised her, cared for her and comforted her in her times of need. The death of the king had brought them together again and after everything he wanted her to have something that reminded her of him.

After the ceremony he left again and again Aerea was left alone. But the girl was strong and would spend time with her dragon and in the training yard. Even though she grew she did not grow much due to the sickness she experienced at birth. She did become quite adept at dragonriding and the dragon that had been with her since birth became bigger and bigger. Aerea became an outsider and only appeared when called upon. Which never happened. She never told anyone about her dreams and continued to surround herself with dragons and books and became even more enclosed.
