Regulus was getting better and better in keeping people out of his mind and out of Cecilia's as well, but it was terribly impressive how well she was managing to keep her magic working wandless and well-controlled for so long.
By the 20th of that month, she had managed to keep elemental magic working for over twenty minutes without stopping and had not exhausted herself or Regulus in the process. Sure, their well of magic was low, but she had done a lot better than any of them had been expecting without proper training from someone like Kreisler. Her saviour, in that case, was her aunt's books and letters which details good exercises of the both of them (and consequently Sirius, who was helping them out). Remus and Narcissa found themselves stuck in the library again against Regulus' wishes, reading through every book they could find to try and find something that might help and save Harry's life from the destiny of a Horcrux, even when Regulus insisted they would not find anything in the Black Library.
It was only by the 30th of August that things started to actually move for the group.
It all started in the late morning when an owl appeared, pecking on the window of the library with great insistence until Remus walked up to her and took the thick letter from her. While he unglued the envelope, Narcissa went to gather everyone and the group met in the library, sitting in various positions in the couches and chairs to pay attention to what Remus had to say as he read the letters.
"There are two letters here, one from Bill Weasley and one from Emma Harlow," Remus said. "Emma's letter is addressed to you, Cecilia, but Bill's letter is for all of us."
Cecilia got up from the chair's arm that she had perched herself on, taking the letter from him. She didn't open it straight away, just sat back to hear what Remus had to say.
"Won't you read it?" Sirius asked.
"I was reading through it to make sure there wasn't anything that I needed to do before reading the letter," Remus said.
That meant that he had wondered if he was about to give out news about deaths, and was prepared to deal with the side-effects of breaking sad news to magical people, with at least one of them with volatile magic - either it being Harry or Cecilia, however, he wasn't sure.
"And you won't?" Cecilia asked, raising her eyebrows in worry.
"No, I won't," Remus answered. "I'll read it. Dear friends, I hope this letter finds all of you in good health and in a safe position to rest after the tiresome month that we all know you had. I know this letter comes late and the information that you have all searched for has not been given to you in satisfying enough details before, so I write this in the hopes of saying what you all want to hear.," Remus read. "My family is wholly safe, however in complete isolation due to the wards that now circle our house. I have managed to get two letters from them: one by youngest brother, R, and by my newest to-be-sister-in-law, E, who's letter I send now to its obvious receiver. E. and my brother, C, are engaged to be 'officially' married as soon as dust settles and - for E's religious consciousness to settle down, they are already married in her faith so they can share a house without troubles. They sound happy in R's letter."
Cecilia looked at her hand.
Emma's elegant handwriting now looks different to her eyes. Emma was a married woman. Emma and Charlie were married.
Regulus smiled at her, petting her knee gently.
"Our neighbours, the L's are safe." Remus continued. He stopped. "The 'L's'?" he asked, confused.
