Cecilia knew that she was being very childish, but there was a small sense of betrayal in her chest when she managed to walk downstairs by herself for the first time after she woke up and found Maria Lucia and Regulus talking as if nothing was happening. She no longer was in school and she didn't have to expect everybody to act coldly towards Regulus just because he had wronged her, especially during the war – she was fully aware of how silly it was, but her emotions were strong enough that even with the slight Occluding that Regulus had on their bond, he could feel her surprise turn into a cold sort of anger and turned to look at her.
"Good morning," he said as kindly as he could.
"It is morning," she agreed as coldly as she could say.
Regulus bit the inside of his own cheek and tried his best not to answer with something as sassy as her.
Maria Lucia, much to Regulus' dismay, had found the exchange somewhat funny and smiled as she got up from the chair that she was sitting on.
"I'll fix breakfast," she announced, moving from the dining room.
Cecilia looked around before sitting herself down on a chair.
"Where's everybody else?" she asked.
"Probably asleep."
"Still?"
Regulus frowned.
"What time do you think it is, Cecilia?" he asked. She just looked at him, face blank as she gave no answer. She didn't know, but she wouldn't say it out loud. "It's six in the morning."
Cecilia looked away. It was far earlier than she had expected. There was no clock in the bedroom that she was sharing with Hermione, which certainly didn't help her in the matters, but she should've guessed it was very early by the fact that Hermione was still asleep (the book forgotten on the ground that had fallen in the middle of the night as she slept clearly saying that she had not meant to fall asleep).
"Cecilia, listen, I'm really sorry –"
"I don't want to talk about it right now. No, I don't want you to talk about it at the moment," she said, cutting him off and looking back at him sharply. "No matter how much I say to myself than I understand you and the situation we were in, I'd like to think that even under pressure you of all people would know not to invade my mind. It made me feel... --" she stopped herself. "Do you know what happened the first time that I met Severus Snape?"
"No."
"He invaded my mind and made me relieve the memory of my father falling, breaking and dying in front of me, choking out my name. Did you know that I could see my father's spine?" she asked, looking down at her lap. "When you invaded, I felt you inside. It felt like such a betrayal because no matter how much your presence was familiar, it wasn't expected; my magic answered and tried to contact yours, and yours didn't answer, it pushed me away. It felt more than betrayal – it felt like... violation, and by the person that I trusted the most. I understand that you did what your... fucked up mind, clouding your emotions, thought was for the better, but I don't like it and I don't want it to happen again."
