I Wish

Chapter 9

Skyler has been non stop talking about semi. Honestly she won't shut up. I keep thinking about Kaden. Did that hug mean anything to him? Was it a friendly hug? Honestly I have no idea.

Boys are dumb. So strange... Well I have no idea what to think of him now. I mean I don't know if I should just move on cause I know he likes Sky or not give up and keep trying. I don't know what to do!

"Ash!" Skyler yelled at me.

"What?" I asked snapping out of my thoughts.

"You were zoning out again,"she rolled her eyes at me.

"Sorry," I quickly mumbled. "Can we talk about something other than semi for once?" I asked. I've had enough about semi. Shoes, hair, who's going with who, etcetera, etcetera.

"Whatever," she huffed. "I'm excited. Sue me!" She said throwing her hands in the air.

I just laughed and resumed eating my lunch as I listened to Sky talk about a girl in one of our classes who curled their hair and how apparently it looked amazing on her. I never noticed these things but Skyler always did.

As I ate I saw Kaden out of the corner of my eye watching me and Skyler. He would look at us briefly and then turn his attention back to his friends. What's up with him?

He stood up and walked over to us. He was walking taking small steps that were almost not confident on what he was doing. His tall figure then reached where me and Skyler were sitting. He was towering over me from where I was sitting. I could feel his dark brown eyes watching me.

"Hey," I said looking up at him.

"Hey guys," he said while taking a seat in the cafeteria chair next to me. He sat there for a moment looking deep in thought as his eyebrows scrunched together in concentration. He took a breath about to say something and stopped and bit his bottom lip looking down at the floor.

"How's it going Kaden?" Sky asked breaking the silence.

"Ok I guess," he mumbled not looking up at her.

"Something wrong?" I asked him as he continued to look down.

"No," he said looking up at me. "I just wanted to know if you wanted to hang out on Saturday," he explained. He was acting so shy and so unlike himself. I was lost in my thoughts and then remembered what he asked me.

"Sure," I said to him smiling. How could I say no? After all I did sorta like him so this may be a good thing.

His face lit up and he beamed at me. "Great," he said seeming happier. "Um we can meet at the cafe around the corner from the mall if you want,"he offered.

"Ok. Ill meet you there around 11:30?" I questioned.

"Sounds good," see you then he smiled walking away from me and Sky. I almost forgot she was here.

"Oooh," sky cooed at me. Fudge. She's gonna bug me so much about this.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Gosh Sky. We can be friends," I told her referring to me and Kaden.

"Sure," she said sarcastically through a mouthful of pasta.

"God close your mouth!" I told her. This just made her open her mouth more. "You're so gross," i mumbled.

"Awn. You love me," she said smiling sweetly.

"Whatever," I said before eating the rest of my lunch.

FRIDAY EVENING

Sky went through my closet ripping out pieces of clothing she found suitable for tomorrow.

"Sky!" I yelled. At her as she looked at 2 of my shirts.

"What?" She called over her shoulder not taking her eyes off the 2 shirts.

"It's not like I'm going on a date," I told her.

"Ha! You just wait. If he sees you in something gorgeous he'll be all 'omg Ashtyn you're so hot and I love you,' and then you'll be dating," she explained talking what 'Kaden' would say in her man voice which sounded scary good like a guy.

"Sky! Just don't make a big deal about this. We're only hanging out," I told her. She could be so dramatic sometimes.

"Fine," she huffed turning to look at me. "But," she said smirking, " I get to pick your outfit," she told me.

"Whatever,"I mumbled. She laughed at went on looking through my closet. I sat on my bed and grabbed my phone off my dresser. I had a few texts from my cousins who are like my best friends and a couple from Kaden.

From:Kaden- HEY. DO YOU WANT ME TO PICK YOU UP INSTEAD OF MEETING AT THE CAFE?

To:Kaden-IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER TO ME. IS IT ALRIGHT IF WE JUST MEET AT THE CAFE?

From:Kaden- YEA. OK. SEE YOU THEN.

I smiled as I set my phone down. I was really happy he asked me to hang out with him. I still don't know of I like him or not. He's just ugh. One minute he confuses me then the next he does something to make me melt on the inside.

"There!" Sky exclaimed putting an outfit onto my bed. I looked at what she had picked. She chose a pair of mint green pants and a white sweater with black hearts all over it. I nodded in approval.

"I like it," I told Skyler.

"You better! It took me so long to pick that!" She told me.

I laughed as she sat down next to me.

"You excited?" She asked me.

"Sky! Seriously can me and him hang out without being questioned about our feelings?" I asked her.

"Whatever," she rolled her eyes.

"It's ok sky. I know YOU'RE excited," I told her.

"Can I not be happy for you?"she asked me teasingly.

I looked at my clock seeing the time was 10:00 pm. "Sky," I said gesturing to the clock.

"Shit! My moms gonna kill me!" Sky yelled grabbing her stuff. She has a pretty strict curfew. She was supposed to be home before 10:00. "Bye! Ill text you!" She yelled running out my house. I waved in response and laid down on my bed.

I heard my phone beeping saying I had a text.

From:Sky- YUP IM GROUNDED :/

To:Sky- HA SUCKS TO BE YOU! TEXT YA LATER. IM TIRED.

I was really tired and I didn't want to look like a zombie for tomorrow. I crawled under my covers and fell into a restless sleep.
