"Can we stop?" Fred asked from the back. Liam shook his head no, they only had a couple more hours to go. He spotted Paige signing something in the back and he shook his head. "Paige has to go." Fred insisted. Fuck.
Liam pulled up along one of the long strips of land, driving out into the open field where he could be sure there were no walkers around. "I can't go here," Paige looked around incredulously as if a crowed of eyes were on her.
"Fred's in the truck. He won't look, I'll turn around." Liam shrugged, gripping anxiously at his sword. The child refused to give in, brows creasing. "No boys, go back!" She hissed.
He rose hands, not wanting to drag the situation on any longer before giving her 10 feet and turning around. His ears were trained on his surroundings while his eyes focused on the truck which remained pulled on the side of the road. Even if walkers happened to show, it should be fine. Although the idea of leaving the kid alone didn't settle right in his chest, not a bit.
"All done?" He called, catching himself and rolling his eyes. Liam turned and began to sign with clenched eyes, "ready to go?" A hand tugged at his shirt a moment later and he figured he got his answer. Good thing he brought the wipes.
They were heading back when he caught the doors of the truck swinging open, the boy fumbling to the ground with some bags. "What are you doing?!" Liam shouted out to the boy, grabbing for Paige's hand to hurry her along.
Fred struggled with Liam's bag, finally tossing it free. "PEOPLE!!" He shouted with all the power his lungs could give.
"F.." He glanced briefly between the children on opposite sides of him, not knowing where he needed to be. Paige met his eyes, already pulling at the knife at her side. Liam took the hint, not wasting a second to run for the boy.
"Come on, to the field!" He shouted, the rumbling growing furiously down the road. He spotted a couple cars heading straight for them. He began tossing the bags out of the way, shouting for Fred to go to his sister. Liam hopped up, blaring the truck horn as loud and long as he could. He didn't have a fucking clue what he was doing. He was scrambling for his gun, checking the bullets just as an idea came to mind.
"Hey!" A man shouted, the car having rolled to a stop beside theirs. Liam hopped down slowly, eying the strangers with the upmost security. "Ay sorry, don't mean to scare you. We don't bite, promise."
Liam looked back to the kids who lingered a few feet away in the grass, holding eachothers hands. He didn't doubt he was the only one looking.
"We need to be going," He signed, taking a step back towards the kids. The man looked back in his car briefly before throwing up a signal and bodies began to emerge quick.
"Sor- are you deaf?" He pointed to his ear, smile friendly. Liam couldn't have spoken if he wanted to as a blow met his stomach and he was shoved down to his knees. The air left him quick but he held it together barely.
"Shiit. Hold up," The man clutched at Liam's stone face, hands lingering a bit too long. "Fucking look at that." He shouted for one of his men, gesturing to Liam amused. "A holes a hole." The man shrugged. His eyes looked past Liam however to the tiny bodies watching. An unbelievable rage filled inside him, tearing at his chest.
"Mark, zombies," A guy spoke from behind. The man grunted, dropping Liam's face finally. "One sec, gorgeous." He dropped a wink, pulling at the sidearm in his pants and sending off a few rounds at the walkers. As the men were distracted, Liam took his shot gesturing to the kids.
"Shit uh, where was I?" Mark scratched at his brow a bit, looking over Liam once more before it hit him. "Right. So, here's the plan. I'm gonna fuck you. Then I'll have my way with the girl, and uh..anyone want the gollum?"
