Liam avoided the eyes that followed him, bounding through the streets to the Underground for whatever Amelia's big breakthrough was about which he guessed she wanted to say in person.

"Hey Craig," he shook the beefy hand of the soldier posted at the enterance to the large clean room. The doors to the cellar remained open which was one of the first changes Avery had made back when she took over. Once Liam had agreed to be a lab rat anyways.

"This is craz- you know we busted our asses to get out of there right? You wanna go back? You wanna be their fucking show pony, put you on display?" Was Sam's argument, completely losing his mind.

"Obviously not. But I'm healed and we've recovered and the space is just empty. They're dead man, I can't just sit here. If my body can help then I kinda have to right?"

"Hell no," Sam said instantly. Amelia stepped up slowly, speaking up after a moment. She spoke quick in a language Liam didn't understand until her husband began to translate for her.

"Her boss, the doc. She may not have wanted to help but she was trying to find a cure. My wife has studied under her for years, she said she could take over her work." Ira stared as she mumbled something at the last second, arms tight sround her waist. "And that she's sorry. Again."

Liam turned to Sam who already seemed to know what he was thinking. He shook his head but backed off, Liam brushed at his hand briefly in thanks before ironing out some details and heading to the boss with their plans.

The Underground was public knowledge ever since and wasn't off limits to anyone but the young and the sick. If people had questions or doubts about what they were doing then they got whatever answers they needed. Sanctuary had no more secrets. Well almost none.

"Liam man, good to see you!" Theo called as he happened to pass, an arm full of medical supplies threatening to fall out of his hands until Liam was able to grab a container nearby. "Oh thank you, out here saving lives one clumsy bastard at a time."

Liam laughed, the older man looked him over with a nod. "How's the scarring? Still numb around the nipples? Not bad for my first time if I do say so myself although the patient would know best."

Theo blurted on until Liam could find a way to cut him off, wondering eyes meeting them as they passed. He seriously had no filter, did he?

"It looks great, thank you for going out of your way. I-..I'm sorry, I-.." Theo cut him off with a shake of his head. "I was happy to do it. Plus you are a pretty special kid, how could I say no?"

Easily. Liam used material, medical supplies, antibiotics; all things that could've been used to help people, wasted on a surgery he didn't even need. Using a doctor that could've been spent helping the wounded. Well they had no wounded at the time but, still.

He shook his head, settling for another thank you because despite the shame eating at him he felt really...greatful. Happy, more than he should get to be.

"How's your family?"

"Ah, their great thanks to Sam. You've got yourself a keeper there son." Theo and his family were rescued about a year back, that's about how long it took Sam to convince him to get the surgery. Not for him but because he knew Liam would never ask himself.

"You shouldn't have to make runs for your own supplies, where's Laura?"

"She was missing her son so I gave her the day off." He shrugged happily. This man was too good for this world. Liam patted his shoulder, assuring he was all set before Theo was back to ramming clumsily into strangers with that toothy smile.

"We good?" Liam asked. Amelia nodded as she took away some of the blood vials she'd collected and he released the rubber from his arm. Every Sunday when he wasn't doing much, he gave some blood. About a half a pint every week although lately he'd been feeling a bit low. If this revelation of hers goes well, he might not need to worry about the next visit.
