3 weeks later

Liam jerked out of bed, fisting the lamp off its stand and swinging it back when he finally took in who it was that had been dumb enough to try and suprise him.

"Alright Black," Sam scoffed in amusement with his hands held in surrender. Liam tsked, setting it down with a firm thud and dropping back to get more 'sleep'.

"Nah enough of that, here."
The bed dipped and something touched his mouth. He slapped it away, refusing to look until it was pried open. A sweet chocolate and bread crust, he knew it immediantly.

Liam chewed, reaching for the package that was already held out. "This changes nothing." He said.

Sam smirked, rubbing a hand on Liam's thigh as he ate. He tried not to be weird about it but it was hard to get used to. After everything that happened, it didn't feel right. Nothing did anymore.

"Thanks." He mumbled. "Been looking everywhere for these."

He was dumbfounded at how rediculous that sounded. Liam huffed and tossed them aside, ready to drown in his sheets again.

"You gotta get up black, sooner or later. And its the fucking apocalypse so their might not be a later. Which means you need to get your ass off this bed, today."

Liam shook his head. 'What's the point' danced on his lips but it felt kinda predictable. "I can't," is what he settled on. Sam hid his understanding well, slapping at him and beginning to stand.

"Come on."

Liam watched the hand held out to him for several moments. He sighed, taking it and standing. Sam smirked, feeling at the fresh scaring on his bare stomach.

Liam remembered how things ended between them months ago, what Sam had thought of him. He had much more important shit to dwell on but it wasn't exactly easy to forget.

Sam saw him hesitate and sighed, pulling back. "Get dressed, we got plans."He did just that and not 20 minutes later they were off for some breakfast.

Liam tried his hardest to find peace but he didn't know how. Sam lost people too and he was still keeping it together, pushing on. It wasn't his job to keep Liam afloat but that wasn't stopping him anytime soon.

Cameron died because of him. Without a reunion of a goodbye. 2 seconds of confusion before..he was just gone, Liam didn't even remember the last conversation they actually had.

If he'd done just one thing different, they'd be going to breakfast together the three of them. Cam would order some weird shit like baked potato with Cheetos and hot sauce or something. All that potential, Liam saw it everywhere. All the things Cam would never get to do.

"Not filled up yet, right?" Sam looked back at him. He snapped out of his thoughts, shaking his head. "Tsk," he accepted as he was pulled close. Liam was somehow not suprised when they pulled up to Darlenes home, the kids waiting with chalk on the front steps.

"Wassup, man." Paige jumped him, hanging onto his neck which he crouched down to give her a break. Fred offered a fist bump but ended up in a hug anyway, Liam couldn't remember who started it.

"It's really cheesy." Fred said as they watched the crafted get well sign on the steps even though he wasn't sick and it wasn't the first time he'd seen them, he'd just been a little distracted lately.

"Uh, yeah a little but that's cool." Liam signed. Paige shoved him and he grinned.

"Woah, slow down yall I can't keep up." Sam hissed, looking around at the flying hands. Paige dropped her head into hers dramatically, she grabbed the men and began pulling them to breakfast which the smell filled the house.
