Taehyung flinched awake when a loud beat drop came on, phone slipping out of his phone and straight onto the floor causing his earphones to disconnect. He grabbed it and looked around with a confused face, heart racing when he realised he was nearing his stop.

The train was also now slightly more full with tourists, so he hid his face with his hood just in case his father had the intelligence to call the police.

Once the train came to a halt, he stepped off and watched it go past to some other location. He turned on his heel to look at the station he was on and frowned.

This place looks abandoned, where the hell is this? Taehyung cringed at all the rust on the stairs leading to other platforms, the faded yellow lines, the dust forming at random places and spiderwebs on fences that needed repairing.

He then made his way to the inside where he could exit from, and the first sight he could see was a group of teenage boys yelling at the only station staff there. He took it as a chance to bump the gates, keeping his head ducked down to make sure no cameras saw him — he doubted they even had any inside that worked properly.

"Holy shit." A breath escaped when he saw how run down the place was; there was graffiti on most buildings, trash on the floors and houses that were tiny and damaged.

What kind of town is this? I thought this shit only existed in movies. Taehyung then proceeded to take out his phone and go onto google maps. He typed in the post code, letting out a loud exhale when he saw that he had to walk for 20 minutes.

As he walked, he decided to note down where everything was. He guessed he was in the town centre where all main shops were and was slightly better looking. However, as he made his way further out of town and to the outskirts the place was starting to look less appealing.

It was the countryside, and that was definitely obvious with how many fields and trees surrounded the place. But, it wasn't pretty like he imagined it to be. He could tell the area was on the news weekly, and every weekly local newspaper was about some sort of youth crime.

I'm here? Where's the house? Taehyung looked around confused and kept walking, glancing down at his phone repeatedly that kept making him go in circles around the same spot.

"Over here son." A man randomly appeared causing the boy to jump.

"Who are you?" Taehyung asked stupidly.

"Your landlord, you're that twink from Facebook right?"

"That's not very nice." Taehyung frowned, "Yes I am."

"I'm Michael, follow me the other ones already there." He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a can of beer, taking a loud sip obnoxiously.

"Other?" Taehyung only frowned even more. I'm gonna get trafficked.

"Yeah, your roommate. Thought I'd make more money with two of you, good thing I did since you're not paying rent for two weeks." Michael muttered and began to walk past some alright houses and past tree branches instead.

"Oh, about the rent-"

"I don't have time to give a house tour, my flights in a few hours so I need to hit the road. The house is a bit isolated because it used to be some Victorian house that belonged to a rich family so it's separate. Then some rich people turned it into a smaller house to put up on rent, then I bought it and left it and now it's like some abandoned shed." He explained as he moved a branch out of the way that swung right back into place and hit Taehyung's face.

"Ow." Taehyung winced, "Is this the path to the house? Like if-"

"There's a proper path, but this ways just shorter. The other side of it is mainly woods but there is a path that leads to the rest of the town, about a 10 minute walk. It's pretty."

"Oh."

"I'd lock your doors if I were you, and make it obvious you live here. Some stupid kids started a rumour that the place is haunted so usually a bunch of teens break in at night and fuck around, or a crackhead comes in to shoot coke."

"Oh!"

"I haven't got an extra copy of keys, and once I have enough rent money I'll start working on fixing it up. Like you know, fixing the windows."

Taehyung didn't know how to react. His face morphed into a horrified expression when he saw the house which looked abandoned; there were veins growing on the walls, graffiti almost everywhere, broken windows and an old door that probably didn't lock. He couldn't imagine how bad it was inside.

"Is it legal to let people live in that?" Taehyung turned to the man who chugged his beef and then chucked the can onto the floor.

"No." He answered and looked around, "Ah there he is." He raised his arm, catching the attention of a boy walking down the correct pathway.

Taehyung squinted his eyes, and then they widened when they began to familiarise with the boys face.

He had long-ish hair that was messily styled and covered his eyebrows, parted slightly in the middle to reveal his forehead a little. He had black hoop earrings in, and many more studs that complimented his lip piercing. The boy also had an unfinished tattoo on his displayed arm, which made him look older if it wasn't for Michael saying they were around the same age.

"Alright, son?" Michael firmly shook the boys hand, "Jeongguk right? Did I say that correctly?"

"Yeah," Jeongguk answered, sharp eyes briefly glancing at Taehyung whose mouth parted in realisation, "Thanks for letting me stay here, I was desperate."

"No worries. This is- what's your name again twink from Facebook?"

Taehyung frowned, "Taehyung, please don't call-"

"He's you're roommate- housemate or whatever. If any of you want to try fix this house up or make it look better go ahead. I'll send my address, if you need anything you can ask my daughter who's living there."

"Okay." Jeongguk answered in time with Taehyung who smiled at that. Weirdo.

"Gotta catch a flight now, I'll see you two soon." Michael patted Jeongguk's shoulder and then gave Taehyung a nod before walking the opposite direction, "Oh wait, here are the keys." He turned around tossed them at Taehyung who jumped but quickly caught them.

Taehyung watched him leave and then turned to Jeongguk who was staring at him with a blank expression, "Hi."

"Are you gonna open the door?"

"Oh, yeah." Taehyung hurried towards the door and got ready to insert the keys, but it seemed like the lock was broken since it was slightly open. He pushed it open with one finger and instantly gasped.

What the fuck? There were crispy leaves at the entrance, furniture that had clothes covering it and dust, graffiti on the walls and shattered glass on the floor. Did he even try fixing it up a little?

Jeongguk walked in with no reaction, dropping his bag onto what Taehyung assumed was a broken couch. He then took out some headphones and made his way upstairs.

"Wait can we-" Taehyung called out for the boy who completely ignored him, "Clean up...together."

The sound of the door being forced shut was then heard from upstairs, which was enough to tell Taehyung two things: one; upstairs wasn't any better than downstairs, and two, he wasn't going to get along with Jeongguk.

It'll be better than going back.
