Jeonggguk patted his face dry as he walked through the bathroom door. When he had woken up, Taehyung was no longer beside him which made him feel sadder than it should. He was expecting to wake up to their bodies still entangled, but he woke up to a bed sheet wrapped around him.
He knew where Taehyung would most likely be, so he hurriedly got dressed for the day. It was quite early in the morning since they had slept in the afternoon, now they were up at the crack of dawn for no good reason.
Wonder what he's doing out there. Jeongguk slipped on his shoes and shoved his hands into his pockets once a cigarette was lit up in his mouth. Twigs and rocks crunched below his black trainers as he lazily walked towards the same place he had found Taehyung earlier.
As expected, the boy was there. This time rather than sitting down he was stood by the edge with his phone out seeming to take pictures of whatever's below.
"What are you doing?" Jeongguk lowly called out once he was near the boy.
"I was just taking pictures to paint when I get back," Taehyung mumbled as he was still focused on finding some good references. "Can you maybe hang from the edge for me?"
"I'm gonna pretend you didn't ask me such a stupid fucking question," Jeongguk breathed out his cigarette, "I'm hungry, let's go get something to eat."
"It's 5 am, what's open at 5 am?"
"This is campsite, all the shops should use common sense and know that people wake up at this time to be one with the nature so they should make some sales," Jeongguk dropped his cigarette onto the floor and began to walk with Taehyung trailing behind him annoyed.
"Why do you always throw cigarettes away before you finish them? What's the point in smoking?" Taehyung pointed down back at the cigarette left behind.
"Because your face ruins my mood to smoke one."
"Dickhead."
"Thank God you don't have any paintbrush's," Jeongguk glanced at the boy who slightly smiled to himself and hummed.
Surprisingly, they were rather quiet while walking towards the breakfast cafes. The roads were silent too as people hadn't woken up to get to work yet, but the most suspiciously quiet thing was Taehyung who was very clearly lost in thought.
"What are you sulking about?" Jeongguk decided to speak up, curious eyes stuck on Taehyung who was watching himself kick a rock before him.
The brunette shrugged, "Just hungry and tired."
"Childish." Jeongguk stopped in front of the first open cafe he saw and stepped inside. Once he had seen Taehyung had followed and the cafe was ready to serve he lead him to a table and sat down.
"What are you gonna get?" Taehyung asked forcing a smile since he knew jeongguk could tell he was upset.
"I'm gonna get whatever you're upset about and the spit it the fuck out drink with the stop being a stubborn child dessert," Jeongguk dramatically sighed as he looked at the small menu. Taehyung couldn't help but laugh a little at the joke.
"I'm just sad about having to leave today, I didn't get to do any of the camping stuff everyone else gets to do with their friends because we have to pay extra." The boy curled up uncomfortably but still put on smile as he shrugged it off, "No biggie."
"We can just do it before-"
"No, no I don't wanna pay for stuff I could do without an overpriced guide in my ear about everything," Taehyung immediately shook his head, "It's fine maybe next time, it's not a big deal. I'll just add it to my bucket list."
"Okay," Jeongguk hummed and tapped the menu tediously, "What else is on your bucket list?"
Taehyung's eyes immediately lit up, "Oh! A lot of things, stuff like seeing going to a fun fair at night, the Van Gogh Museum, and...I don't know, that's all really."
"I get the museum or whatever, but why the fuck do you want to specifically go to a fun fair at night?"
"I don't know, I used to sneak out of my dads house to go the park at night- and I got bored of all the rides there so I just thought maybe I'd be happier at a fun fair."
"Fair enough." Jeongguk mumbled and turned to the waiter that was walking over to them tiredly.
Once they had ordered their food, Taehyung began to talk again while fidgeting with his fingers.
"What time do we go back today?"
"When do you wanna? Do you wanna do something first?" Jeongguk raised his eyebrows.
"No, just need to know what to do after to keep myself awake for the whole day."
"Good luck, I can't help you either I'm gonna go straight to sleep when we go home." Jeongguk paused a little when he realised he had just called the ran down building his home, but he let it go.
"Should we go after we eat then? So you can sleep earlier?"
"Yeah."
Unfortunately it wasn't as entertaining after. They ate and then packed in silence. Taehyung was too silent for anything to provoke Jeongguk so he also kept his mouth zipped up. It was worse on the train when Jeongguk found himself unable to sleep due to how uncomfortable the silence was driving him.
Of course he plugged in music, but with Taehyung sat opposite him it was a little hard to not focus on his low mood that was dulling everything else.
"Taehyung, sit here." Jeongguk pointed at the empty seat beside him which the other looked at him confused for, "I'm cold, sit here."
"You're so annoying." Taehyung stood up anyway and sat next to him. He would've bickered about it, but he was far too tired to say anything.
Although he had some good sleep, a boring train ride was just bound to make it harder to stay away. His eyes were constantly drooping and his head was rocking as his body began to sleep.
Tired red eyes landed on Jeongguk who was peacefully leaning against the window and staring out the window.
Jeongguk managed to distract himself much better until a head slowly fell onto his shoulder. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion but relaxed them when he saw Taehyung fast asleep on him and snoring softly.
He'd wake him up as Taehyung had said he didn't want to sleep just yet, but he just looked so angelic asleep that he kept his idea to himself:
I see why angel is a good nickname for him. Jeongguk shamelessly continued to stare at each ray of sunlight that laid like a blanket on top of Taehyung. A blush began to burn against his ears when Taehyung shuffled and wrapped an arm around Jeongguk to snuggle up against him.
His heart beat began to pick up as he imagined all the other times he had cuddled up with Taehyung. Although most of them were while high, they were still meaningful to him. When he realised he had just said that, his smile fell.
That's enough. He's cute and that's it.
