Jeongguk kicked his legs about as he smoked his cigarette, sitting on the edge of a wall ledge right in front of a restaurant. The restaurant Taehyung worked at. His eyes were constantly searching for the pretty boy just for some sort of feeling.

Why am I even doing this? This is fucking weird. Jeongguk thought to himself as he took another puff.

"Why are we here?" Hoseok who was squinting due to the sun glaring at them asked.

"Exactly, it's too fucking sunny here let's go sit in the shade or do you want to keep stalking your roommate." Minho sighed with a hand over his eyebrows to shield himself.

"I don't know, I just really want to see him. I was with him for two days straight and this morning he was suddenly gone," Jeongguk began to speak whatever reason he could think of to justify his actions, "I guess it just felt weird so I'm here, I'll just-"

"Just say you fucking like him and miss him." Hoseok winced and turned to the shocked younger, "Close your mouth, don't try deny it."

"I don't! Why the fuck would I miss him? It just felt weird not seeing him, it's part of my little routine and I don't like my routine messing up." Jeongguk sternly spoke, tatted hands emphasising his words by moving around dramatically.

"Okay, if you hypothetically did like him and missed him, what would you miss about him during this moment?" Minho raised his eyebrows, glancing at Hoseok who held back a laugh and shook his head.

"Well..." Jeongguk tapped his cigarette and hummed, "Nothing because he's annoying, like he's always fucking talking and trying to hangout with me when I don't want to and we're always together. I miss that he's not annoying me right now and that he isn't a pretty angry mess when I argue with him. I miss that he isn't putting me in weird situations and making that cute face when he's upset at me."

"Fuck me," Hoseok pinched the bridge of his nose, "I don't know if it's because you're so stupid or it's this heat, but somethings pissing me off." He spat making Minho laugh into his hands.

"Jeon, you clearly just miss him and like him. What's so bad about accepting that you like him? He's not even a bad guy, he's cute, he's pretty, and you two are close." Minho pointed out receiving a nod of approval from Hoseok.

jeongguk went silent while staring down at the finishing cigarette in his fingers. he did have his reasons such as all the times he would argue with his father about his mother. it would end with his father telling him "you'll understand why i stay when you get a partner" and with him slamming the door after saying "then i'll never date anyone ever again."

of course it wasn't just because he had vowed to never end up like his parents, but also the how it had all changed how he viewed relationships. it created a fear inside of him.

seeing the way his mother would destroy herself and those around her, the way his father would crumble amidst picking up his wife's pieces. how the two would constantly struggle to stay happy together and not once did they have a happy family dinner like other families got to.

that's what he was scared of. he didn't want to end up like his father, stuck in a relationship that did him harm.

i'll never understand why he keeps running after her. a bitter taste formed in his mouth and he chucked his cigarette onto the floor.

"i just don't want to date him." jeongguk simply stated and flinched when loud groans of annoyance escaped the other two.

"fine don't, but i can't stand sitting in this sun any longer i'm gonna go ask taehyung to make me a nice little cold drink." hoseok hopped off the  wall they were sat on and began to cross the road.

"lets go," minho nudged the boy who sighed and reluctantly followed the other two into the restaurant.

taehyung's head merely raised up from the bar to see who had come in, smiling when he saw the trio walking in. unfortunately he didn't have time to greet them as he was busy serving drunk customers which had him sweating with anxiety.

i'll never understand how people get drunk for no reason. who even drinks at this time and not just at a party or something only? taehyung wiped the sweat on his forehead and placed down the drink he had made before walking over to the other end of the bar.

"hi guys," taehyung smiled at the three who took a seat in front of him, jeongguk on the far end and avoiding his gaze, "what can i get you?"

"some really cold and refreshing, this heat is killing me- please i'm begging you." hoseok dramatically clasped his hands together and begged the boy who laughed and nodded.

"water or juice? or alc-"

"water. and one brain cell activation drink for jeongguk please." hoseok pointed at the boy who shot him a glare and rolled his eyes.

"i'm back!" jimin slid through the staff door with an annoyed expression, "you got lucky taehyung, jin sided with you."

"about what?" minho asked.

"he told me he didn't get any good sleep last night and he's been feeling faint, especially with this sudden heat he's been stumbling about all day but won't go home- i was trying to get jin to send him home but even that bastard said no." jimin scoffed.

"it's not that deep min, i finish in twenty minutes anyway." taehyung sighed as he placed a glass of ice cold water in front of hoseok and glanced at jeongguk. he's awfully quiet.

"oh! jeongguk should walk with you incase you know- you pass out!" hoseok suggested, nudging jeongguk who shoved his arm away and tutted.

"cut it out, and i can't i've got things to do," jeongguk abruptly stood up and began to walk past the group.

taehyung watched him with a confused and worried expression, but shrugged it off as the boy being cold like he usually is.

jeongguk kicked his feet around lazily as he trailed around the streets. his miserable mood was out of place amongst the other citizens that were cheery and sociable under the bright weather.

his sharp eyes landed on a park where people were sat having picnics and children were playing football; more busy than usual due to the heat.

flashback.

"you two just play, okay?" mr. jeon knelt down with a forced smile, body shaking from both the cold and nervousness inside of him.

"but what about mum?" jeongguk asked, his small hands holding onto the football that his father and given him.

"it's dark, can we go home?" his brothers voice squeaked, sobs shortly escaping him after.

"soon, okay? you two are grown up now. i'm just gonna go get your mother and then we'll all go home and have pizza! okay?" mr. jeon gasped dramatically and smiled although his eyes were wandering around the place to search for his dear wife.

"no! i want my mum and i want to go home!" jeongguk yelled, now also crying while his father just stood up and began to hurry towards the park gate, "i hate you! you always leave!"

"Minseo! honey!" the man called out, jogging away and heart aching for the woman to return safely.

jeongguk pouted, doe teary eyes turning to his brother who was sat on the floor bawling his eyes out. he looked down at the ball in his hand that was he excited to play with if he hadn't known his father would just abandon him to look for his wife.

he chucked it with all his force, dropping to the floor to sulk and cry as well.

end of flashback.

jeongguk snapped out of his daze when a football hit his foot, he briefly looked up to see two kids yelling at him and waving their arms asking for the ball back. but instead, he just walked away with a heavy heart.

yeah, i'd rather just be alone.
