THE COURAGE TO call Jada and Cass had sprouted from a place I do not know. My heart is beating in my chest when the video call rings, and I swallow hard when they ask about me.

After a few moments of explanation, their reaction is not what I expect it to be. Well, more so for Jada. She isn't mad and doesn't roar out her frustrations. She is rather shocked and upset that I'm not there. They both could not reach my mom and thought something was up with me. They are glad to know that I'm fine.

Now, they're updating me about what's been happening at school. Riley, the girl who, for some reason, I had somehow offended, had gotten into a severe car accident during her driving lessons but is thankfully okay.

Ava Kent is being nice to everyone all of a sudden. Cassie says it might have to do with graduation being around the corner, and she wants to leave a lasting impression of herself.

Lastly, there's been a ton of pranks on the teachers lately, and an investigation is on the go to catch the culprits.

"So, have you made any new friends?" Jada inquires, munching on a pack of chips as the crumbs fall on her beige woollen cardigan.

"Not exactly. I met a group of girls. They seem nice, but I don't want to get too close."

"Why?" Cassie ties her blonde hair in a loose ponytail while her ginger cat stretches on her bed behind her.

"Because you guys are my friends."

Jada rolls her brown eyes, "Oh, don't be silly, Maya. Just because you're friends with other girls doesn't mean we won't still be friends. Cass and I have joined Hannah and her group of fashion-obsessed tweets."

"You can't call them tweets now that we're part of their group. That makes us tweets, too," Cass frowns, folding her arms, warmly protected in her blue top.

"What made you join them?"

Jada pouts her lips, toying with her braids. "All of a sudden, everyone is in a group. We were a group when you were still here, but now, for some reason, two doesn't count as one. We didn't want to feel left out, so we joined Hannah's group because they seemed like the most decent sorts we could find,"

"I guess Jada judged them too much. They're fun. We're having a sleepover at Hannah's this weekend, and we're going to make bracelets and necklaces. It'll be so much fun," Cass shimmies in her seat excitedly.

"Hopefully," Jada sighs. "So, you see, Maya, it doesn't matter if you make other friends. We'll still be the three amigos." She makes a peace sign in front of her face, and I beam at her.

Unlike me, who's interested in French, Jada has been doing Spanish since Freshman year. She's only become fluent in it recently in our junior year. On the other hand, although taking Spanish at school, Cassie has never interested herself in it. She's rather into learning Greek and its culture and people; it makes sense since she was born in Greece.

"Enough about friends. Now, about boys." Jada wiggles her brows in amusement. "Does this school of yours consist of hot beach boys?"

"Forget about beach boys. Tell her about you know who?" Cass mentions, giving Jada the googly eyes. They know something I don't.

"You know I—"

"You have to tell me," I demand, leaning forward from my cross-legged position, the bed bouncing as I do so and the comforter soft against my skin.
