Chapter 14: The Moon Festival

Shinoa went to the laundry room and started the machines and folded the laundry left over from yesterday. When it was time for her break she went into the kitchen and prepared her tea. "All good so far?" Asked Saphyra, Shinoa nodded bluntly and poured her tea into her cup and went out into the garden. "I wonder if she'll last as a chambermaid if she eats so little." Said Cana, "why do you think?" wanted Saphyra to know, "have you never noticed? Every morning she has only one tea, then normal for lunch and in the evening only one fruit and one tea." Explained Cana. "True now that you mention it." Agreed Saphyra.

When the family had finished breakfast, the king summoned Saphyra to his office. "The Moon Festival will be held in three days. We will do as we have done in previous years, you will all work normally until after lunch and then have the day off, the following day, you will serve breakfast at 9am." Says he, Saphyra bowed "Yes your highness, I'll pass it on in a moment." Saphyra rose and opened the door as Shinoa was about to knock "please forgive me, I didn't mean to disturb, I'll come back later." "Come in. We just finished." Said the king and laid out some documents.

Shinoa entered and Saphyra closed the door as she walked, "please sit down." The king asked her. Shinoa took a seat on the chair in front of the desk and Lucifer looked up, "well, you know it's the Moon Festival in three days. So that everyone can enjoy the festival and celebrate, all the employees are off after lunch. The following day you will come to my room at 8:15 with a coffee and a small breakfast. All you have to do after that is put my clothes out and when I'm in the study, you do your usual work, understand?" "If everyone is off after lunch, can I do some work in the laundry?" He asked, "then I rather recommend a ginger tea, it will stimulate your appetite. I'll bring it to you at 11:30 a.m." Said Shinoa, bowed and left. Lucifer looked thoughtfully at the closed door.

Right on time, Shinoa brought Lucifer the ginger tea. "Why did you resist when I ordered green tea?" he asked. "Too much green tea in a day is not good because of the teein. Since food is coming soon anyway, an appetite stimulating drink is better." She answered him and put the cup down. She bowed and left. The rest of the day passed quietly and at 11:15 p.m. Lucifer retired. Shinoa quickly changed and went to join her friends. Kirara handed her the sake, "no hard feelings about yesterday." Shinoa waved it off "that's alright, as long as the plan is still on." "As for that... Renji decided to open the bar on moon festival night..." said Skylla with her head down. Shinoa lowered his glass "what!? But what am I supposed to do now? I can't inject myself with that stuff..." "Then just turn, what's the big deal?"
