Chapter 46: Has the spit come to an end?

The three of them walked towards the Jade Club, Lucifer grinned "Clever of you to tell her we're going for a meal first" "yes, our wives don't need to know everything" said Alastair. The three of them entered the club and were led into the private lounge by Rowena "what can I get you to drink" "I think we'll start with something light..." "We'll start with three glasses of sake" ordered Lucifer "Lucifer you can't take much and then you want to start like this?" Alastair asked "Of course. My brother is getting hitched, that's something to celebrate" said Lucifer "good, then I'll bring three glasses of sake" confirmed Rowena. "Plus the bottle" added Lucifer "Lucifer..." sighed Draven.

Rowena left the lounge and fetched the drinks. The three of them clinked glasses and drank "where are Belial, Azazel, Leviathan and Asmodeus?" Lucifer asked after a while, "the four of them are running a little late, but don't worry, they're on their way," Draven lied. Lucifer nodded and drained his glass. After the fifth glass he held his head "it's all spinning" "no wonder, as fast as you drink" Alastair said "sorry Draven but I better go home" Lucifer said and stood up, Draven also stood up and supported his brother. "I'd better take you to my place. Don't let Sarada see you like this and never let you out again" "that's a good point..." Lucifer said. "You guys go ahead, I'll pay for everything" Alastair said, Draven nodded and walked with Lucifer towards the exit. Outside the club, the three said goodbye to each other and went on their way. Draven took Lucifer to his house and put him down on the sofa.

"What happened?" Itona asked "Lucifer drank too quickly" Draven replied "I need some time for the antidote" Itona whispered "he'll stay here until he's better" Draven said "I'll get on with it then" Itona said and went back into the kitchen. Draven sat down next to Lucifer "are you feeling a bit better?" "Not really" "then get some rest" Draven suggested. Lucifer lay down on the sofa, closed his eyes and fell asleep after a few minutes.

A few hours later, he woke up again and sat up "You're awake. How are you?" Draven asked "Just a bit of a headache" said Lucifer. Itona gave Lucifer a glass with the antidote "here, drink this, it'll help with your headache" Lucifer emptied the glass in one gulp, Draven and Itona looked at him eagerly. "How do you feel now?" "Where is Shinoa? Is she alright?" Lucifer ignored the question "he's back to his old self" said Draven "Lucifer..." began Itona "Sugino" growled Lucifer "his head will roll!" "Lucifer!" Shouted Itona "what!" Shouted Lucifer back" "Shinoa is in the basement, she..." continued Itona "why is in the basement?!" Lucifer asked loudly, Itona growled "will you let me finish for the hell of it?" Lucifer remained silent "thank you. We had to lock her in the basement, she transformed..." "Impossible, her seal prevents her from doing so." Said Lucifer "can I punch him in the face?" Itona asked Draven angrily, Draven shook his head "she was so driven by hate that the seal just broke or her will to survive broke the seal, we don't know exactly what it was."

"Which way to the basement?" Lucifer asked "this way" Itona said and led Lucifer down to the basement, she stopped in front of a door "she's behind it" Lucifer opened the door, to the room where the demoness was being held, she was chained at the wrist and ankle with short chains attached to the wall. "Did you have to be so rough?" "Next time we won't stop them and watch your realm being destroyed." Itona said and left.

Lucifer approached the demoness, she glared angrily at him and swung her tail at Lucifer. He casually dodged "even in this form, if you're not yourself, you're damn attractive, Shinoa" "Shinoa?" The demoness laughed "Shinoa doesn't exist anymore" Lucifer smiled "you're standing in front of me." He walked further towards her and stopped inches from her. He pulled her into a loving embrace and gently stroked her hair. The demoness tried to struggle to get away from him, but with his firm hold and the chains, she didn't have much freedom of movement. "I'm so incredibly sorry about what happened... there were some strange things in my office, the open window, the unknown presence... although I heard your sister's threat when she was arrested, I didn't think anything of it. I am aware that what I did to you is inexcusable. I have hurt the most important demon in my life."

After a few seconds of silence, he let go of her, the demoness exhaled in relief and became careless. Lucifer pushed her against the wall and she looked up, startled. His eyes were full of love and affection and looked directly into hers. He leant down to her and kissed her. The kiss was so intimate that it felt like her consciousness was fading, just as she thought she couldn't breathe, Lucifer broke away from her. He brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and then placed his hand on her cheek, "Please come back to me."

A cosy feeling spread through her and her hatred evaporated, her eyes slowly filled with water, she couldn't stop the tears from rolling down her cheeks. "Lucifer..." Shinoa returned to her original form and collapsed. Lucifer held her tightly and removed the chains from her wrists and ankles. With Shinoa in his arms, he walked up to Itona and Draven.

"May I take her to a guest room?" Lucifer asked "Itona is preparing it now, up the stairs and then second door on the right" Draven explained, Lucifer took Shinoa to the guest room and put her in bed "please take care of her" "where are you going?" Itona asked "throw Sarada in the dungeon" Lucifer said and left.

Late in the evening, he returned to Draven and Itona. "Well?" Asked Draven "she's stewing in the dungeon for life" replied Lucifer "is there no danger of her breaking out again?" Itona asked "No. I took away her powers. How is Shinoa doing?" "Ask her yourself, she's out in the garden" said Draven. Lucifer didn't need to be told twice, he quickly went out into the garden "Shinoa!" "Don't shout, I'm just to your left." Lucifer turned around and took his beloved demoness in his arms "My Shinoa... I'm so incredibly sorry" "Lu... you're crushing me" "Sorry" Lucifer apologised and let go of her.

"Are we going home?" Shinoa asked, Lucifer nodded, took her hand and walked back into the castle with her. "Tomorrow morning we're holding a press conference to announce our engagement, my resignation and Tracy's coronation." Lucifer said, "Do you think the spit will be over then?" Shinoa asked "that everyone is out to get me? I really hope so, but then Tracy will probably be the target" said Lucifer "that comes from your lips very calmly" said Shinoa "because I'm not worried about her. She overcame Satan back then so she'll be able to handle everything else. What do you say we go for a walk in the park after the press conference?" "If someone accompanies us. Oh yes, and don't be too hard on Sugino." Asked Shinoa, "I promise," grumbled Lucifer.
