~• Loaine Lorain •~
"Tea? Oh, I forgot! Where are my manners? My name is Lilian, Lilian Kurt."
Loaine froze at the name, the last name all too familiar. The old woman, Lillian, stared at her, that same smile on her face. She gestured to the couch and Loaine plopped down on it, her eyes staring off somewhere else. Lilian placed the tray of tea and cookies on the small coffee table before turning to the still shocked Loaine. She shook her head slowly, the dizzyness and shock slowly waring off. She turned to Lilian and smiled at her kindly.
"I'm so sorry. I've been rude. My name is Loaine, Loaine Lorain." She stuck a hand out and Lilian took it gently, giving it a small shake. Lilian began to laugh and Loaine smiled at her amusement. "What's so funny?" Lilian waved a hand in the air and started to pour two cups of tea.
"I know who you are, sweetheart, I watch you on that," she says pointing to the TV," and you work with my son. He's spoke of you before." Loaine nodded slowly. So Clance spoke of her. She wasn't sure what to make of that but the thought vanished as she saw the pictures behind the glass. She pointed at a cute one of Clance as a child and an older gentleman.
"Is that him there?" Lilian nodded, her smile a sad one.
"And my husband. He passed when Clance was a bit older, roughly college years, and Clance has been down here helping me every so often. He's a sweet one, Clance, but he can be stupid when it comes to certain things." She shook her head and laughed, Loaine smiling shyly at the moment only Lilian could share.
"He's so quiet sometimes. I thought he was shy but maybe he's just reserved." Lilian nodded again as Loaine shrugged.
"Yes, he is, but he has good reasons to be. You know, I made these myself." Lilian pointed to the cookies, picking one up and offering it to Loaine. She frowned at the change of subject, Lilian's words ringing in her ears. He has good reasons to be...Loaine took the cookie with a smile and took a bite, the sugar cookie melting in her mouth. She moaned loudly before freezing.
"I'm so sorry! Goodness, these are delicious!" Lilian laughed at Loaine as she blushed deeply and smiled, putting the bitten cookie on the plate Lilian had offered. Lillian waved a hand again and stood, walking to the kitchen. When she came back, Loaine saw a blanket in her hands. Loaine raised an eyebrow in questioning and Lillian smiled.
"Sylistico suggested you get some rest. He wants you to stay here for awhile, just to make sure you're safe from whatever that was. I don't mind company and from what I've heard from Clance, you're a lovely girl." Lilian smiled at her but Loaine could only frown. She didn't know what troubled her more, the fact that Sylistico was forcing her away from home or the fact that Clance told his mother that she was a lovely girl when he knew pretty well she wasn't.
"Thank you, Mrs. Kurt, but I should really head home. Its getting late, I have work and I won't allow someone to tell me how I'll live my life. Thank you for the tea and cookies, they were lovely." Loaine stood and Lilian looked at her in concern for a moment before that sweet smile was back. She walked over and draped the blanket across the couch.
"Please, sweetie, it's Lilian and I'll walk you out if that's how you feel. Just remember, you're welcome any time." Loaine smiled and stood, hugging Lilian. The woman hugged her back, shocked, before leading her to the front door. As they neared, Loaine said one last goodbye and opened the door, a gasp escaping her. An angry looking Sylistico stood there, his body hovering inches above the ground, arms over his chest.
"Where do you think you're going?" Loaine frowned and mimicked Sylistico, arms crossed.
"Home, you can't keep me hostage here. I refuse to stay." His feet touched the ground and for a second Loaine felt her heart skip in fear. He was angry, she knew that, but would her hurt her? He towered over her and glared.
