° Chapter Eight •

~• Loaine Lorain •~

Loaine gasped, catching Sylistico steadily in her arms, her knees bending under the weight. Loaine led him to the small sofa chair in her room and looked him over.

"M-My...my...s-stomach." Loaine looked down to see his suit cut up, a deep gash on his stomach, the wound still bleeding. She gasped and looked up at him, his eyes shut.

"What happened?" He opened his eyes slowly, his face pale.

"I was on my way here...to watch over you...when I ran into Elictros and...he..he knows one of my weaknesses." Loaine eyed him curiously. He has a weakness, she thought to herself, of course he does, everyone does. Loaine looked around before standing up and running into the bathroom. She grabbed her first aid kit and ran back into her room, Sylistico still lying on the sofa chair, his breathing shallow. Loaine bent down in front of him and carefully touched the suit, and hand stopping her's. She looked up and glared at Sylistico, his eyes weary. Loaine nodded at him and he released her, the now free hand holding the suit up.

Loaine opened up the first aid kit and pulled out a small pair of scissors before cutting the suit that was slick with blood. Loaine looked up at Sylistico but his eyes were closed, his back sinking into the cushion behind him. Next, Loaine pulled out a small bottle of rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab, dabbing the cotton in the rubbing alcohol, before turning to the gash. She eyed Sylistico wearily but he never opened his eyes so Loaine rubbed the cotton swab on the cut gingerly.

Sylistico hissed, the noise filling the room, and Loaine pulled the cotton swab away, her entire being sorry for causing him pain. He opened his eyes and looked at her, his face tired, and gave her a small reassuring smile. Loaine sighed and went to do it again when a sparkling caught her eye. Loaine raised the cotton to the light and saw little pieces of a silverish metal on the cotton. She turned to see Sylistico looking at her, his cut still bleeding.

"Sylistico, shouldn't you be healing? And what in the world is this metal stuff?" She held the cotton out to show him and his eyes widened for a moment before that blank look was back. He tried to sit up and Loaine rushed to his side, helping him up so that he could. He reached out a hand, asking for the cotton, and Loaine placed it lightly into his palm. He stared at it for a moment before tossing it into the trash next to Loaine's desk. She stared at him, waiting for an answer and he sighed.

"I can't heal, Lo, my weakness is this stone, Pelstimotite, and when I'm near it, I grow weak and my powers don't work. I won't start to heal until every single piece is out of my body." Loaine stared at him in shock before snapping into action. Grabbing the tweasers from her first aid kit, Loaine began to pick and pluck every little piece of metal that shone at her. Sylistico stayed still, each piece pulled out hurting less and less. Finally, Loaine had pulled every piece out, the wound slowly starting to heal back up.

"How's that?" Sylistico smiled at her and sat up, his strength returning.

"Much better, thank you Doctor Lorain." Loaine smiled at his petty joke and began to clean up, various cotton swabs of blood and alcohol littering the floor around her. Sylistico went to help and Loaine placed a hand on his chest, pushing him back into the sofa chair.

"No, you need to relax and rest, let that heal." His hand came up and held her's to his chest, his heart beating underneath her fingers. Loaine closed her eyes, the warmth and feeling of Sylistico comforting. It was then that Loaine felt her sleepyness, her eyes closed and warmth seeping into her bones. She took a deep breath and opened her eyes, shaking her head to get rid of the tiredness. Sylistico looked at her concerned and she smiled, the action meant to be reassuring but came out tired.

"Come on Lo, you should get to bed." He stood up, tugging Loaine along with him, and walked over to the bed. He set her down and, without changing, Loaine crawled into bed, her body already heavy. Sylistico looked at her and Loaine realized he looked brand new, his face a bright smile, his entire being glowing.
