Violence's Backstory

I summon a knife in my hands, then throw it at the target I carved into the tree. It hits the center, and I grin.

"Still on target." I grab the knife and spin it between my fingers.

"Violence!" My brother shouts from off in the distance. "Dinner!"

I sigh. "Coming."

The knife in my hand dissipates, and I shove my hands in my pockets as I walk through the thick snow. The emotions of the monsters in Snowdin flicker in my soul. Off in the distance, I can feel anger and bloodlust almost as strongly as if someone were standing right beside me. I narrow my eye sockets and head into my house.

I sit down on the couch and prop my legs up on the coffee table.

"Violence!" My brother walks into the room, holding a plate of two burgers and some fries. He frowns. "How many times do I need to tell you not to put your feet on the table?" He sets the plate down and lifts my feet off the table.

I take the plate into my hands. It's warm. I can feel the heat radiating through my leather gloves. "Thanks, bro."

He grins and runs into the kitchen to get his own plate, then sits down on the floor on the opposite side of the coffee table. He's almost twice my height, so even sitting on the floor he reaches my eye level.

My gaze drifts to the window, and I look outside. In the foggy area outside of our house, I can see the silhouette of a small child. I narrow my eye sockets and stand up.

"Be right back." I say, shoving my hands into my pockets and walking outside. I see the child at the edge of Snowdin, ready to cross into Waterfall. "Hey."

They pause, and they turn to me. I see something small in their hands, shimmering in the fog. As I approach, I see they're a human.

A human fell? I think as I stop a couple feet away from them. They stare up at me with emotionless, unblinking eyes. I can't feel anything from their soul. They're just... Empty. All of the other humans that had fallen down had very strong emotions.

"Name's Sans, but I prefer Violence." I hold a gloved hand out for them to shake. When they don't shake it, my concern only grow. "Okay... Don't shake it. I guess." I put my hands behind my back and summon a knife just in case. "Can you speak?"

They don't say anything.

"I'm gonna assume you can't speak, unless you say somethin' here soon, bud." I say.

They turn and walk away, and I get a better look at what's in their hand.

A knife, dripping with blood.

I kneel down in the snow, taking off my glove, and grabbing some snow in my hand. It's dusty.

"That little bitch." I growl under my breath. I summon a knife in my hand as I put my glove back on. "No one kills my brother and gets away with it."

I teleport to the end of New Home, where I suspect the human will be. Sure enough, they're there, walking down the long, golden corridor.

"Hey, bitch." I snarl. They pause and turn to me. I shoot a red bone through their chest, and their blood splatters on the ground. I stalk towards them, slowly and menacingly. I put the knife to their chin and force them to look at me. "Why'd you murder everyone, huh?"

They remain as silent as ever.

I kick them to the ground, shooting another bone through their chest. "TALK TO ME, BITCH!"

A glowing red soul appears over their chest, and it shatters.

Time seems to rewind, and before I know it, I'm standing behind the human as they walk down the corridor.
