When they get back to the clan, the Sully kids and Mä'zu are gathered outside the Sully home, Lo'ak having dragged Mä'zu over to eavesdrop with them as soon as she has properly cleaned up.
Jake and Neytiri are arguing inside the Sully home, unaware of the kids outside, listening in to the conversation and Mä'zu feels the guilt of failing to look after three of the Sully kids eating away at her as Tuk peers between a gap, watching Jake and Neytiri.
"This thing, this Quaritch.. whatever he is he can walk right in here. He can walk right under Eywa's nose." Jake says sharply.
"This is our family! This is our home!" Neytiri protests.
"This is about our family. This is about our little ones." Jake replies.
"I cannot. You cannot ask this. I cannot leave my people. I will not." Neytiri states.
"He's hunting us. He's targeting our family." Jake points out.
'If I had insisted that we didn't check it out then maybe none of this would've happened and Spider would still be here, Kiri wouldn't be upset and-' Mä'zu's self blaming thoughts are cut off by yelling from inside the Sully home.

"YOU CANNOT ASK THIS!" Neytiri yells as she stares at Jake."THE CHILDREN, EVERYTHING THEY'VE EVER KNOWN! THE FOREST! THIS IS OUR HOME!" Neytiri shouts, her voice full of emotion.
"He had our children and Mä'zu, he had them under his knife!" Jake says softly, voice strained and he makes a slit motion across his neck with his thumb.
Neytiri almost gives in at the mention of the danger they just saved three of their kids and Mä'zu from.
Neytiri sighs and looks to the side before she sees something else that gives her reason to argue against leaving.
Neytiri walks over to where Eytukan's bow is and she holds it while facing her husband.
"My father gave me this bow as he lay dying, he said 'Protect the people.' You're Toruk Makto!" Neytiri states, her voice cracking while gripping the bow.
"This will protect the people! Quaritch has Spider, and that kid knows everything. He knows our whole operation and he can lead them right in here. If the people harbour us, they will die. Do you understand?" Jake asks lowly.
"There has to be another way besides just leaving! We can't just abandon our home! We can't just abandon our people!" Neytiri replies as she holds onto the bow even tighter than before.
"What's more important, the clan or your own family?" Jake snaps before sighing, as he realises it's unfair to say that.
Neytiri doesn't respond. The weight of the decision weighs heavy on her heart. She knows deep down that Jake is right, and their family's safety is more important. But it's a hard pill to swallow, leaving their home and their people behind.
Jake's heart sinks when he sees the hurt in Neytiri's eyes. He immediately regrets the words that came out of his mouth. He knows how much their people and their home mean to her. And he knows how much their family means to her.
"I'm so sorry Neytiri, I understand you want to stay and you don't want to let your father down but I promise, this will protect the people and your father would be so proud of you for everything you've done." Jake adds, cupping his wife's face.
Neytiri closes her eyes and leans into her husband's touch. Despite the overwhelming emotions, she knows he's right. Jake's comforting addition at the end with his words about her father and his belief in her make her smile a bit as she opens her eyes again.
