Lo'ak gets to the spot where the Ilu saddles are kept and he calls his Ilu over and grabs his Ilu's saddle, sliding it onto his Ilu as it comes over and he goes to grab something when he's stopped in his tracks as he hears footsteps approaching and he looks over to see his older brother.

"No way you're riding out today, baby brother." Neteyam says as he catches up to the stubborn fourteen year old, already knowing Lo'ak wants to go to Payakan.

"I've got to warn Payakan about the poachers." Lo'ak replies, a part of him hoping his brother will come along, but another part of him knows his brother will object.

"No. You've got to keep your skxawng ass here." Neteyam states firmly.

"He's outcast. There's nobody to warn him but me." Lo'ak protests.

Neteyam puts his hand on Lo'ak's head.

"Bro. Why do you always have to make things so hard?" Neteyam asks.

Lo'ak's ears flatten and his tail flicks in agitation as he can't help but feel a pang of hurt and frustration at his brother's words and he roughly pushes Neteyam's hand away.

"No. You mean why can't I be the perfect little son like you?" Lo'ak asks sharply.,

Neteyam feels a pang of hurt and frustration as he takes a step back, his lips pressed together in a tight, tense line as he tries to rein in his emotions.

"The perfect little soldier? Well, I'm not you! Okay? I'm not you." Lo'ak continues, his voice rising slightly.

Neteyam's jaw clenches as he walks back towards Lo'ak, lips pressed into a tight frown and tail held up in agitation.

"He's my brother, I'm going." Lo'ak states and turns around, walking to his Ilu.

Neteyam's emotions swirl inside him like a coiled snake, all tightly bound up together.

Hurt and betrayal mingle with anger, burning in the pit of Neteyam's stomach at the fact he had always done everything for his little brother, sacrificed so much for Lo'ak.

And now here Lo'ak is, choosing an animal over his own flesh and blood. Over Neteyam.

Neteyam's heart feels like it has a vise around it, the betrayal and hurt cutting deep as he clenches his jaw tighter, anger and hurt welling up inside him.

Neteyam tries to push it down, to control his emotions.. but the pain of Lo'ak's betrayal was too much, and the hurt boils over as his  tail lashes furiously, betraying his wounded emotions.

Neteyam closes the gap between them in a few quick strides, grabbing Lo'ak's arm and pulling him back, forcing him to turn around and the frustration and irritation is clear on his face as he meets his older brother's gaze.

"Oh, he's your brother?" Neteyam asks bitterly.

"No, I'm your brother." Neteyam adds matter of factly and presses a hand to his chest.

Lo'ak's expression flickers for a moment, his defiant exterior faltering for just a second as there's a mix of frustration and guilt in his  eyes, but it's quickly masked by a stubborn expression as he's determined to help Payakan.

"Get off me." Lo'ak says and shrugs his brother's grip off.

Lo'ak lunges for his Ilu, however Neteyam grabs Lo'ak again  and jerks him back so he spins around and punches Neteyam in the face.

Neteyam stumbles back at the unexpected punch, the force of the blow sending him reeling. He cradles his face in his hand, stunned by the sudden attack.
