Later that morning, the Sully kids and Mä'zu leave Jake and Neytiri to have their moment, and after slipping away from Neteyam, Mä'zu finds Ao'nung, having decided to apologise for both fights she had against him and for what she said about hoping Tonowari outliving Ao'nung.

"Hey, Ao'nung." Mä'zu calls as she approaches him.

Ao'nung glances over at the girl who he had previously fought with, looking at her now as though he expected another fight to kick off.

"Yes?" Ao'nung asks her, his tone blunt.

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry for how I acted towards you yesterday. What I said about you becoming Olo'eyktan was totally uncalled for and I'm sure you'd make a.." Mä'zu trails off, trying to find the suitable word.

Ao'nung raises an eyebrow, seemingly amused at how Mä'zu can't seem to finish her sentence.

"Go on... finish the sentence." Ao'nung prompts her, sounding just as sarcastic as always. He's eager for another fight it seems.

'Don't punch him, don't punch him, don't punch him—' Mä'zu chants in her mind as she restrains herself, instead rolling her eyes.

"You're making this harder then it has to be. I would say great but.. I'm still pissy with how you treated Kiri and Lo'ak yesterday." Mä'zu says, unaware Ao'nung apologised to Lo'ak.

"What I'm trying to say is... you wouldn't be a terrible Olo'eyktan." Mä'zu says after a few beats of silence

Ao'nung is taken aback by Mä'zu's response and can't help but smirk at this new side of her.

"Hmm.... did you really mean that? You don't seem to think very highly of me, so to hear you actually say something nice to me is quite unexpected." Ao'nung says to her with amusement in his voice.

"Well..I was thinking most of the night and I realise I was a complete asshole to you, although you deserved it, and..." Mä'zu trails again off and shrugs.

Ao'nung can't help but revel in Mä'zu's hesitation to compliment him directly, amused by her attempts to compliment him while still keeping her dignity.

"You still couldn't finish that sentence, huh?" Ao'nung asks her with that same amused smirk as before.

"Give me a break, my mind is still in a sleepy haze." Mä'zu mumbles, despite having woken a few hours ago.

Ao'nung's smirk widens as he hears Mä'zu's response. He likes this back and forth between the both of them and loves how she can't finish her sentence.

"Sure, sure... It definitely isn't a lack of your own intelligence. Definitely isn't." Ao'nung teases.

Mä'zu gasps dramatically.

"Dick." Mä'zu says jokingly and swats him playfully.

Ao'nung chuckles softly, enjoying this playful banter between them. It's a different tone compared to their previous interactions, and he finds himself surprisingly intrigued. He watches Mä'zu closely, studying her expressions.

"Hey, I thought your apology was supposed to be nice." Ao'nung says, trying to sound offended, although the smile on his face betrays him.

Mä'zu goes to reply but she doesn't get the chance to as a certain someone finally catches up to her.

"What's going on?" Neteyam asks, surprised and relived that they're not fighting, however he does eye Ao'nung cautiously.

Ao'nung turns to face Neteyam, Ao'nung's expression becoming more serious.

"Oh, hi Neteyam. Nothing much, just enjoying some light hearted banter and teasing." Ao'nung answers casually, as that's pretty much what happened, the only thing he didn't say what happened was the apology.
