The next day, in the Sully Neytiri is finishing brushing Tuk's hair as she's already brushed Neteyam and Lo'ak's, despite both boys being capable to brush their own hair.

Kiri, having retrieved Mä'zu from her home, walks into the Sully home with the older girl.

"Let me brush your hair." Neytiri says softly as she moves onto Kiri's hair.

"I can brush my own hair!" Kiri says with a laugh.

"I know." Neytiri says, smiling softly and pulling Kiri in close.

"But I want to." Neytiri replies matter of factly.

When Neytiri finishes with Kiri's hair she moves to Mä'zu and drags her down to brush her hair which isn't too messy.

"Stop, it doesn't need brushing, it's fine!" Mä'zu protests.

"Nonsense, it does need brushing and I intend to brush it." Neytiri responds, her voice laced with humour.

When Neytiri's done, Mä'zu's hair is soft and wavy.

Mä'zu smiles softly at Neytiri.

"Thank you for brushing my hair." Mä'zu says softly.

"It is my pleasure." Neytiri replies.

"You're going to have to let me braid your hair one of these days." Neytiri adds with amusement.

"Maybe when I'm eighteen." Mä'zu replies, tail wagging as she mentions the age she can't wait to be.

"Eighteen?" Neytiri asks, sounding surprised.

"Oh please, you'd look awesome with braids and you know it." Kiri says matter of fact, speaking up before Mä'zu could say anything else.

"Yeah, but when I'm eighteen, I'll braid my hair, probably. Maybe." Mä'zu replies, not sure she'd ever braid her hair.

"Why eighteen?" Tuk asks.

"Because, I don't know.. it will symbolise how far I've come in life, because by then I have experienced a lot." Mä'zu says, but honestly she doesn't know why she doesn't want her hair braided until then.

"You've already been through so much." Kiri points out.

"You don't  have to wait until you're that old to have your hair braided. We can braid it whenever you want." Neytiri adds, her tone still showing amusement, before smiling softly at Mä'zu.

"I know but.. I don't want to—like, not yet—I mean—I-" Mä'zu pauses, her words coming out as a stuttering tangled mess as she tries to convey her thoughts.

Kiri laughs at Mä'zu's stumbling, and Neytiri shakes her head with amusement and understanding.

"I'm okay with waiting a bit." Mä'zu says after some struggle with sorting out her words.

Mä'zu, Kiri, Tuk and Neytiri look over to the other side of the home as they hear Lo'ak laughing hysterically.. at Neteyam who just put on his poncho.

"Neteyam, you look absolutely terrible." Lo'ak says between his laughter.

"I'm just trying to look fashionable." Neteyam replies half jokingly, his tone a mix of annoyance and amusement.

"Yeah, because nothing says fashion like the poncho." Lo'ak replies.

"Shut up! It's cool." Neteyam says, he rolls his eyes.

"No it's not." Lo'ak says, a smirk on his face making it impossible to know if he's being sarcastic.

"Leave me alone Lo'ak—" Neteyam starts, but he gets interrupted as Lo'ak bursts out laughing again.

"Fine. You're right. You look cool in it, man. Really, really cool." Lo'ak says sarcastically.
