Alora POV
When we got to the pack, I brought Dylan and his sisters to Jathred's office. We had a closed-door meeting. Beta Mathias, Beta Thierot, Kasthor, Jathred and Becker were there. This brings back unfortunate memories.
Jathred initially had difficulty trusting our vampire guests, but in the end, he allowed them to stay for a short visit mostly because they seemed to have information on the war and they were happy to share it with us.
"We know Alpha Vincent made a deal with the Dolomite Clan from the Mountains. Vincent wants to take over the Mountains, and he will give the vampires open access to the human settlements if they help him." Dylan explained to Jathred.
The Dolomite Clan, as Dylan explained is one of the strongest vampire clans settled in the Mountains. Is a clan of roughly twenty vampires, most of them gifted, experienced, and deadly immortals.
"How many vampires have sided with him?" Jathred asked, resting his face on his fist.
"Five, maybe six? There aren't many of us around."
"So, he's planning to bring vampires to a werewolf fight?" I asked, low-key afraid.
Vampires are brutal creatures in a fight. They are faster and stronger than us. They are also incredibly hard to kill. The thought of fighting vampires puts me on edge, especially after my early encounter. Bad experience.
"I ran into the Dolomite's seeker two days ago. They are after one specific wolf a gifted one..." Nadia turned to me, and as she spoke, I felt my heart racing... I guess the secret of my gift isn't so secret anymore.
"They called it The Grey Terror."
Shit.
I immediately stopped breathing. Nadia's sexy voice felt like a punch to my gut; all the air left my lungs, and my blood froze. Get your shit together, Alora, everyone in here can hear your heart panicking.
The room went quiet.
Nobody said a word, and then I realized everyone else was just as afraid as I was. I decided to bring my eyes up and away from the floor to look around the room. All eyes were on me. All of them were mortified except Becker.
Becker looked like he was ready to kill me or kill someone. Is he really mad at me?
"That settles it then. I am not leaving your side. Day and night, you are glued to me from now on." Kasthor walked over to me and took my hand in his.
Big mistake, my love. The second I touched him, I could feel his fear spreading through me. He wasn't simply afraid, no. He was terrified. And as much as he tried to hide behind a fake smile, I know how bad this situation is.
Someone who wasn't trying to hide his feelings on the matter was Becker. As Kasthor got near me, a deep growl emerged from the center of his chest.
What does he want me to do? Say no to protection? I mean, he is not offering it. And to an extent, this is his fault. If I were mated, the Alpha Rogue wouldn't be interested in me. Well, maybe he would still be interested in killing me, but not kidnap.
Shit. This situation is not good.
For all I know I have at least five vampires hunting me down. I am not prepared for that. My squad is not prepared for that. Proof of it is my now not-so-injured wrists. Since the Blood War ages ago, vampires and werewolves have coexisted peacefully. We avoid each other at all costs. Mainly because they stink but also because we almost kill each other to the point of extinction, so peace was a collective agreement.
"You are off patrol duty. You'll be staying within the pack grounds. Roger will lead your patrol squad, and you are now part of the Alpha squad. You won't go anywhere without your new squad." Jathred decided to crush my heart with his overprotective instructions.
