Alora POV

Once more, Ithax 's grip on my shoulders deepened as he heard Valerie and Sophie's words. The tension in the room grew heavier as the sound of racing hearts sped up, at least from those in here who had a heartbeat.

Most of my knowledge about the world and the creatures that inhabit it is information that has been passed down from generation to generation. Until very recently I thought witches were nothing more than the result of a long-extinct species mixed with colorful folklore only meant to inspire storytelling.

So when Valerie and Sophie mentioned Snake Charmers and Demons, I realized the stories I grew up with, were more than just legends and myths.

"I'll begin your training as soon as we reach the Forest. I'll make sure you'll be ready when they come." Valerie turned to me.

I'm not going to lie, having her help me make sense of this situation means a lot to me. But, there's much to be done first to secure the Forest.

"Valerie, I'm afraid that won't be possible. You need to go to the Wetlands first. Set in with Kasthor and your coven. You must protect the people there and secure the land. Ithax will be doing the same in his pack. The Rainforest needs its Alpha and they haven't had the chance to meet Theus yet, Ithax's warriors miss their home, and returning to their families will uplift the Rainforest Pack. Any spare warriors will accompany you both to help you gain control faster. I will train with you, but first, we'll have to secure the Forest, together." I might not know a lot about the Forest, but I do know that right now is chaos there, and chaos won't help our cause.

If this is a war against whatever those creatures are, the wolves have to unite and stand together. And the Forest right now, needs a lot of work that one wolf alone can't cover. Uniting all the wolves across territories will be a team effort. Luckily we have the Desert packs allied. Unluckyly, Ithax's crazy cousin in the Forest likes to throw tantrums and has made his life mission to destroy my mate over some petty territory fight.

"Alora, there's much to prepare you for. With all due respect, you can't just play housewife and waste time." Valerie meant well, but she was clearly upset.

"I won't be staying at the Rainforest." I cut her off before she could go into a full explanation of the importance of my training.

She looked at me confused, almost tempted to ask me to repeat myself, just to confirm she heard right.

The plan that I was about to share with the room, would be news to everyone except one person. Ithax. While everyone was panicking or overthinking over our newly discovered enemies. Ithax, his wolf, Thana, and I connected our thoughts, going over different scenarios and strategies. We came up with this plan together. It was clear that the Desert was doing well and it was safe, our main focus had to be the Forest. And, at the top of our priorities, there was a certain someone we had to deal with if we wanted to solidify the alliances within the Forest packs. His cousin, the real Alpha Becker.

"We'll stay in the Rainforest for a few days. I'll go over the security reports and resolve the issues that need my attention. Sophie, you'll remain there as the acting Luna while we are gone. I'm leaving my full guard and Theus with you." Ithax addressed Sophie before I shared our plan. I took it as a sign of respect. He wanted to let her know her role in advance. She simply nodded at him with a serious look.

"We'll be traveling South. To resolve the conflict with Alpha Becker. I'm bringing my Beta Roger, and my former squad with us. If you still agree to let them travel with us Jathred. I was also hoping you'd join us, Dylan. It never hurts to have a vampire on the team, or two." I started looking at Valerie, then slowly turned to Jathred and Dylan then his sister respectively as I was talking to them.
