Ithax POV

"Come find me" That was the last thing she said to me.

Those were her last words.

I should've gotten to her sooner. From the moment I felt her fighting I should've run straight to her.

Instead, I stayed back fighting my way to her.

The first half of our run after leaving the tunnels was quiet. No wolves or guards in sight. We should've known it wasn't going to be all easy.

As we got closer to the caves, we faced more wolves than we expected, and Jathred's plan of not engaging went out the window. We fought over a hundred wolves before reaching Alora.

Dare I say, if it wasn't us six with four vampires, no other group would've been able to survive the attacks. We eradicated every single wolf on our way to Alora. We all worked as one single solid until.

The vampires stayed in a squared formation around us, protecting our corners. Jathred and I were picking on the biggest wolves and letting through the smaller ones for the rest of the group to take on them. No side attacks or ambushes were able to stop us. In the back of the group Kasthor and Thierot had an impeccable kill ride. It was a blood bath for the rogues. No mercy.

By the time I finally reached Alora, I could feel I was too late. Her soul was sailing away from her body taking her life away. I felt it in every single cell in my body. My mate... she was dying.

After rushing into the room where her scent led me, I let out a howl I had been containing from the moment the rogues took her and ran straight to her. I was surprised to see Thana was in charge, probably using whatever strength she had left to keep them fighting.

Revenge against Vincent wasn't even relevant at this moment. All I cared about was healing her, so I started licking and sealing all her wounds to stop the loss of blood. Then she fainted. Her wolf left, and the second I saw her body I realized, this was much worse than what I could heal.

She was beyond beaten up. Silver burn marks, blood spilling out her mouth, most likely a punctured lung, or both. Her rib cage was destroyed and covered by blue, green, and purple tones bruises. And her eyes... those eyes that once were bright and full of life held nothing in them. Alora was gone, and only a faint smile remained on her lips.

The world that once was red then turned black, was now void. No colors were left. No life was left. No future in sight, not without my mate.

Nothing around me mattered, in fact, I couldn't care about anything anymore.

I was not losing her. This time I would remain by her side. I would follow her wherever she was going.

There was shouting around me but the voices made no sense. Until a set of arms clinched around me and ripped me from Alora's lifeless body.
