Ithax POV

I can't believe we let the bastard get away. I can't believe they have her.

I have no fucking clue where she might be. All I know is that she is hurt. I know it because I can feel a fire wrapped around my body. I can't reach her mind, but I can feel her wolf has been drawing energy from mine through our bond.

When I find her, those bastards are going to be begging me to kill them.

For now, we set camp at the top of the hill. Back in the pack grounds, everyone is still under lockdown. I sent back three of my warriors to stay put by the bunker doors to secure Sophia and Theus. I can't risk leaving them unprotected, knowing they are safe is the only thing keeping me sane right now.

After the emotional show of Kasthor, Jathred called a meeting with all the leaders of the Desert, and through his mind-link, he reached out to the Elders of his pack. We are in the middle of some kind of brainstorming, which hasn't proven to be too successful. All we had agreed on was the fact that Jathred wouldn't be giving himself up and that I wouldn't kill him to get her back. Other than that, all of our battle plans are useless if we don't know where they have her.

"You need to hear this." Dylan, the vampire set on protecting my mate and the one that hadn't even tried to hide his obvious attraction to her, busted into the guard post where Jathred, Kasthor, Mathias, Thierot, Mikah, and I were.

Dylan was dragging with him a kid not older than twenty. I recognized his face, he was the one Alora spared when she fought the rogues and the vampires.

"I have an idea of where she could be." The kid said staring directly at me.

Yes. Saving him turned out to be something helpful after all.

"Where?" Jathred growled out before I even opened my mouth.

Talking, even thinking was taking me longer than usual. My so-called self-control was fading, my body wasn't only sore but also drained and my mind felt split in two. I only had room for rage and fantasies of blood.

"The Witches Caves, past the human settlement. They are between the forest border and the Green River that divides the Forest from the Mountains. There's where we were supposed to take her when Zante sent us for her capture." The kid spat out, without any sign of treason in his voice.

"It's about a two-hour run from here," The kid continued.

"I can do it in an hour. My squad is the fastest. I'll get them ready and we'll be out of here in five minutes," That twig Kasthor said and stood up as if he was the one in charge.

"You aren't going anywhere, kid. I am not leaving my mate's rescue in your inexperienced hands" I growled out releasing my hatred on the nearby asshole that kept toying with my non-existent patience.

Kasthor took a step towards me, but before he was able to say anything his brother cut him off.

"No large squads. If we are going to get her we need a small party. In and out in a flash."

"My sisters and I can take the lead. We can test the route and get there in half an hour. No offense but we are faster than you and we know a vampire took Alora, you'll need us." Dylan inched in.  I can't believe I am actually relieved to have a vampire on our side.

One thing I noticed is that the timing adds up. It's been four hours since they took Alora, but the burning pain began about thirty minutes after her abduction. That timing matches the distance from here to the caves on vampire speed. There's a good chance she is there.

"You can come, but you'll stay with us. We can't risk them seeing you and warning the others." Jathred maintained the order of the room.

How I wished I could take over, but whatever Alora was going through right now, was taking every bit of my energy. I was even having a tough time standing, if I wasn't leaning against the wooden wall, I would've been on the floor right now.
