Alora POV
I woke up in Ithax's arms, unsure of the time or day.
Being in an underground bunker, there's no telling if the sun was up or if the moon was glowing. I do know that we had been in here for a long time... at least a couple of days for sure. Falling for each other every time a new wave of desire rises in me. He responds to them every single time as if he could feel them, too, and I know to an extent he can.
We are living in our perfect tale, unbothered about the world that awaits us outside. Ever since the moment he marked me, I lost connection with my pack. I don't have any access to Jathred... or Kasthor. In a way, my mind feels lonely, but now I have access to so many others I don't even know yet. It's a sweet yet sour feeling. There's no more checking in with my squad for our morning runs, no more reaching out to our border guards. No more Roger to rely on to keep the formation of our runs.
"Good morning," Ithax growled in a yawn rolling over me and interrupting my thoughts.
"Good morning, Ithax." I giggled at his attack that outweighed me.
"I love it when you say my name," He said, burying his pointy nose in my skin and breathing in his mark on my neck.
"I don't want to rain on your parade... but we should go up to talk to Jathred," I told him before he attempted to start something that would take us hours to finish.
Every time we continue the course of our gentle kisses all the way down to our most passionate moments, it takes us a long time to be able to stop. And then there's the knotting situation... every time he comes, it takes a good twenty to thirty minutes for us to be able to pull apart.
I know what you are thinking... marked, mated, and knotting with an Alpha all day and night sets me up for the pregnancy I am not at all ready for. But we talked about it. We'll go to the pack's doctors for a contraceptive shot that I should take as soon as possible.
We decided that waiting was the best decision for both of us. He has a pup in the way, and once we go back to the Rainforest, we'll be marching back to a war zone. Ithax will need me by his side. If we must fight, I want to be able to do so without endangering a pup. And speaking about war... we have to talk to my brother.
What better first act as Luna than advocating to uphold the peace between the Forest and the Desert? More than anything, I have to convince my brother not to kill my mate for lying his way into our territory. Ithax wanted to do that by himself, face Jathred, and spit out the truth just like that. I had to seriously talk him out of his death wish. I wasn't planning on becoming a widow any time soon.
"Your heat isn't over yet."
He isn't wrong, but now the windows of time in which each wave hits are more spaced out. We should have a good couple of hours before one strikes again.
"You need to check on Sophia." I could feel his uneasiness in me, too. His wolf has been devoted entirely to me, but I could tell his unrest was growing. He wanted to hear his pup's heartbeat, it relaxed him, and it was the tune he was used to listening as a lullaby to sleep.
"Let's shower then." He tickled me with kisses and his growing beard on my neck as I battled my way out of the prison of his weight on mine.
We played around in the shower as we tried to actually wash the sex scent off our skin, which I don't think would be possible. As we finally got out and wrapped ourselves in the navy towels, I realized we had no clothes. There are only robes in here, no underwear or any other piece of clothing we could use.
I don't want to have a deadly conversation with the legendary Alpha Jathred only wearing a robe!
"We need clothes..." I turned to Ithax, who was drying his hair with one of the smaller towels.
