"This is your house?" She asked as they walked back to the living room.

"Yes. All mine." He had forgotten about asking his team to build it, and all the countless hours he had spent planning every single detail.

"Dr. Shepherd..." She trailed, looking around.
"Please don't call me Doctor." He scoffed. "I haven't done a minute of doctoring in half a year.

She watched him walk over to the fridge and open it. There was champagne in it, and nothing else and he pulled it out.
"Want some?" He asked, popping the cork.

"It's the middle of the day." She said condescendingly.

He shrugged and held the bottle to his lips, drinking a long sip. She watched as he placed the bottle at the edge of the counter.

"You probably have to get back to the hospital." He said.
"Uhm... yes, yeah I do." She nodded as he came up to her.
"I'm sorry I'm being so difficult." He said quietly.
"I would be difficult if I were shot too." She laughs.

They stood so close that she was all he could see and their eyes locked in each other. He smiled and she felt herself move closer to him. He was back, back to dreamy, back to handsome and even though she could physically see how his body had stressed over the past few months, he was undeniably handsome.

"Meredith..." He couldn't speak once the smell of her hair flooded his lungs. The ability to form full sentences faded until he was just staring at her lips.

"Derek." She said as their bodies came together.
"Oh, Mer." He whispered, feeling her skin against his.

She tried so hard to restrain herself from kissing him and she couldn't think. Not when he was so close to her, not when his skin was a deep, manly forest scent.

"Derek." She moaned into his mouth and he smiled. Her body was begging to kiss him and his was so attracted to hers that his legs felt weak.

"I can't." She whispered against his cheek. He nodded and still their mouths rubbed against each other in desperation. The tension was so high and their hearts were beating hard nervously.

"I'm... I am..." He couldn't say it. He backed away and she wrapped her arms around his neck. He held her waist and smiled sadly as she squeezed him as tightly as she could. It hurt but he didn't care. He squeezed her too until someone watching wouldn't even believe it was two people.

"Don't go." He wanted to whisper, "Please don't leave."

"I should get back home." She said, backing away.
"Yeah." He nodded as she walked to the door and sighed as she left him.

"Meredith!" He called before she got into her car.
"Yeah?" She asked curiously.
"Thank you." He said, making her smile.

It imprinted in his mind, her lips curved upward and her hair golden in the light. The green shimmering in her eyes and her small nose peppered with light freckles. Her tawny skin in the sunlight.

She drove away and couldn't stop thinking about her. He wandered his house aimlessly and finished the bottle of champagne. He went fishing in the day and caught up on the many thousands of emails that he had received since his absence. He made phone calls and paid bills till the sun set and he watched the sunset at the edge of the cliff.
