One Week Later

"I've never been there for dinner. It's surprisingly romantic." She said as he walked her up to her apartment. Their fingers were loosely connected and she stopped in front of a door.

"Well, this is me." She said as she turned towards him.
"Thank you for a nice night out." He said, "It's been..."
"A long time." She finished for him as she looked up at him.
"Yeah." He nodded, confused by her understanding of him.
"Yeah." She smiled politely, her eyes locking in his.

He leaned down and moved closer to her cheek when she turned her head, and he felt her soft breath against his lips. They were kissing and he let his eyes close and take in the feeling.

His hands let go of hers and moved to her hips. His fingers hooked onto the belt loops of her jeans, tugging her closer. Her hands rested on his shoulders and she could feel his muscles through the button down he was wearing.

A small moan escaped her mouth when he pulled away and grinned playfully. She opened her door and waved goodbye before shutting her door and giggling.

He walked back to his car and began to drive to his trailer before he stopped at the pier that Meredith had taken him to. He grabbed the blanket that was still in his backseat before laying it on the grass. He drank a beer while he watched the sun rise in the sky, remembering her.

"You know it's only three." He said as he sat beside her on the blanket, popping the cork for the bottle of wine, "The sun won't rise over ferryboats till 5:45.

"Well, I guess we will have to just find out how to pass the time till then Dr. Shepherd." She smiled as she grabbed the bottle and took a long sip. They drank back and forth which led to laughter and moving closer. He grabbed her waist at one moment and pulled her on his lap. Their lips mushed in all kinds of kisses for an hour before they couldn't hold back anymore.

She took off his clothes and he peeled off hers and they had done it right there, on that blanket in the openness of the pier. They had clung to each other so tightly that he had felt his body shake with pleasure from her. His skin had become electric at the touching and he remembered her fingers in his hair, unbuttoning his shirt, touching his hands.

He could almost feel it now. Her gentle voice echoing his name the darkness. He stayed till he finished his beer and then went home, and stumbled into his couch. Sleeping in the bedroom didn't feel right to him, so he simply didn't anymore. The couch was his resting place.

He stayed silent for a while and she simply looked into his eyes, stroking his cheek. The movement was calming and he coughed often and he shook.

"I'll go get help." She pleaded. "Let me."
"You're falling asleep." She said, "Please don't sleep."

He woke with a shake and fell off the couch, landing on his back on the floor. He groaned as he stood up and got ready for work, grabbing a granola bar.

He saw her first when he drove into the hospital. His breath left his lungs as he watched her get out of her car. The sunlight made her seem like she was an angel, shimmering brighter than anyone else. She turned around looked in her bag, realizing she forgot something and when she looked up... she saw him.

He was getting out of his car and his hand was on the hood as he was reaching for his briefcase. Their eyes locked onto each other's and she stopped breathing. Her heart began to pound in her chest and she was lost in the oceans that were his eyes. He had that stupid smile on his face that made him look so innocent and so sexy all at once. His stubble would be overgrown tomorrow but it was perfect today.
