A scream woke her up from her sleep. Haebin got up from where she slept and stretched her body. She looked around in a daze and realised that she was asleep on the sofa in the living room.

Once again, the same scream went into hearing and she found herself dashing to the guest room.

She swung the door open and a sigh unknowingly escaped her mouth when she saw what was in front of her.

It was Sehun, and he was shouting and crying in his sleep.

Slowly, Haebin stepped towards the bed where the boy was tossing around uncomfortably. She sat on the edge of the bed and started stroking Sehun's arm until he calmed down and fell asleep again.

She pulled the blanket up to the boy's chest and turned to take a deep look at his face. The faint moonlight that peeked through the curtains allowed Haebin to see the tears that were flowing from the corners of Sehun's closed eyes.

She didn't know what kind of dream he had, but she was certain it was definitely not something beautiful.

Unconsciously, tears flowed from her eyes. She couldn't help but feel sorry as she watched how Sehun turned out to be. She should do something to lessen his burden, but what can she do?

Haebin roughly wiped her tears with the back of her hand. Usually, when she's in need of a place to lean on, there must be Jongin next to her waiting for her to rest her head on his shoulder.

Shut it, Haebin. You said you've moved on. You said you were ready to start a new life. What are you doing now?

Conflicted, she slapped herself in the face.

I need to forget everything. I don't need Jongin to lean on anymore. I can just lean on the wardrobe. I can forget Kim Jongin.

You can do this, Kim Haebin!

Haebin took a deep breath and stared at the floor for a while, recollecting herself. She then glanced at Sehun who was now sleeping so soundly as if nothing had happened.

A small smile etched on her lips.

The sound of the door opening diverted her attention from the salad to the tall male who had just walked out of the guest room.

Sehun's appearance that morning seemed different from the previous days. His black hair was neatly combed, and a dark blue shirt matched with jeans of the same colour looked neat on his well built body.

"Where are you going?" Haebin asked while continuing her activity, mixing some salad, that was interrupted a while ago.

"Cafe. Minseok hyung and Yixing hyung are getting noisy." Sehun answered. His hands were busy adjusting the buttons on his shirt sleeves.

"Why are they the ones who are complaining?" Haebin asked, referring to Sehun's employee at a cafe that the guy owned.

"You're the boss. Plus, are you really okay?" Her voice turned serious, the salad bowl had been pushed aside. She looked into the boy's eyes who was standing not far from her.

Sehun only returned her intense gaze with a smile. Although his smile did not reach his eyes, it was enough for Haebin. Progress is still progress. At least he didn't cry anymore.

"I'm alright, Bin-ah. Thanks for asking. How about you? Are you not going to work? I'm fine because I'm the boss. But, you? Do you want to get paid less?" Haebin rolled her eyes. She totally forgot that Sehun can be a little bit annoying sometimes.

"It's true that I'm not the boss, but...my boss is my best friend's fiance. A week off is nothing." Haebin stuck her tongue out. Sehun narrowed his eyes and chuckled at the childish behaviour of the girl.

"Breakfast?" Haebin then asked. She saw Sehun contemplating in his place. Whether he should join her at the table or go straight to the cafe and get killed by the girl for wasting the food she made.

"You don't need to gawk at me like that. What are you cooking today?" Sehun eventually stepped to the kitchen counter where Haebin was standing.

Haebin cleared her throat before answering. "Omelette, sausage, Baekhyun, I mean, bacon with salad. Drinks, self service. Thank you." She slightly bowed, mimicking a waitress.

Sehun chuckled at her actions as he reached for the plate the girl had prepared. He's always amazed by the girl's antics. He didn't even know why.

"Speaking of Baekhyun, haven't seen him in a while, right?" Sehun suddenly said.

Haebin only hummed as a response.

Byun Baekhyun, another high school senior of theirs and Park Chanyeol's best friend. The funny thing is, although Baekhyun's also their senior, they somehow, never really treated him as someone older than them.

Maybe because he's known as a prankster and not a serious type of person.

Or maybe because he is not my ex. Haebin mentally said.

"Why are you suddenly so silent? Does it remind you of your ex? Though, I'm pretty sure I mentioned Baekhyun, not Chanyeol." Haebin stared at Sehun who was chewing the food she cooked.

Once again, she rolled her eyes in annoyance.

Oh Sehun and sarcasm. Urgh.

"Yeah, my ex," Haebin replied with a hint of annoyance in her voice. What she didn't notice was how dejected her voice actually sounded. Only when her eyes collided with Sehun's droopy eyes, did she realise.

The feeling that came with the words that slipped out of her mouth.

She was clearly not talking about Park Chanyeol or Jinyoung—the boyfriend she had when she was in kindergarten.

It was about Kim Jongin.

The man who left her, because he was bored of her. The man that she thought she would someday marry. If only she didn't catch him going out with Seulgi that day, they would be engaged by now.

Haebin let out a small sigh.

At the end of the day, everything is just a dream that will never come true.

"Don't be sad, Haebin. I'm here." Haebin accidentally let out a snort when she heard Sehun's words.

"Yah, why are you laughing? I'm serious." Sehun said, slightly irritated by the girl's response.

"You're so cringey." Haebin was laughing hard, tears started forming in her eyes. Watching how happy the girl was, Sehun couldn't help but smile.

"See, you're smiling too." Haebin pointed out. "You've got to admit that you're acting cringey, Sehun-ah," she added before stifling another laugh.

"Promise me, Haebin." Haebin leaned against the kitchen counter, waiting for Sehun's next sentence.

"Don't ever shed tears again, especially for someone who is not worth it." Finished Sehun with a small smile.

Haebin beamed him a smile as a reply. She was always aware of the sweet side of Sehun, but she didn't know he was this sweet.

Anyway, don't think too much. She somehow never looked at Sehun as a man. Don't ask why.

"Alright." Just as Sehun's lips were about to turn into a smile hearing her reply, she interrupted, making his eyebrows raise in wonder.

"But you also have to promise." She added as she looked at him straight.

"What is it?" Sehun asked curiously.

"Don't be sad for a long time and smile as long as you can. Just know that I will always be there for you."

Okay, cringe.
