"Sehun-ah, wake up. Open your eyes, Sehun! Please!" Sooyoung started sobbing, shaking Sehun's body, hoping he would wake up.
Haebin who had just arrived with Chanyeol started to panic when she saw Sehun's body which was full of ugly scratches, tied weakly to a chair.
She panicked even more as she saw the thick red blood flowing from his head. The guy didn't even look like a person anymore.
"H-huh?" Haebin was at a loss for words. It felt like her world was falling apart, the sky and the ground were colliding. Chanyeol's anxious voice that was calling for paramedics echoed in the room before disappearing with the wind.
"Miss, please step aside. We need to check and take him to the hospital." One of the paramedics spoke up before he and several others moved to untie Sehun.
"Who the fck are you?! How did you get in?!" Everyone's attention immediately shifted to Sungjae who still had the baseball bat in his hand. He was swinging it all over the place like a madman.
"Joy?! Joy?!" Sooyoung gasped when her name was called.
"Sungjae," The girl stood up, facing her husband with teary eyes.
"Stop it." Sungjae's face changed when he heard those words slip out of Sooyoung's mouth. The man took a step back and shook his head in denial.
"Why?" He asked with a low voice. A few seconds of silence before he lifted his head, his eyes were gawking at his wife.
"Why are you the same as all of them?!" Without warning, Sungjae launched toward Sooyoung with a baseball bat in the air.
Fortunately, right before the stick could hit Sooyoung, the girl was pushed aside by Haebin.
Chanyeol immediately took care of the situation by kicking Sungjae's leg and knocking the man down. He pulled both of Sungjae's hands until he let go of the stick he was holding and proceeded to handcuff his hands.
"Yook Sungjae, you are arrested for attempting murder against Oh Sehun and Park Sooyoung. You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and may be used against you in the court, and you have the right to hire an attorney." Chanyeol said.
"Take him," He then ordered his men.
Chanyeol turned around to see an unconscious Sehun on a stretcher being carried by paramedics. His eyes then shifted towards Haebin and Sooyoung who were still on the floor, hugging each other.
"Yook Sungjae, you'll pay for this."

"Oh Sehun's family?" Dr. Kim called as soon as he stepped out of the operation theatre.
Haebin and Sooyoung hastily stood up and went to him, both of them had worried looks on their faces.
"His father is abroad. We are his closest friends." Told Haebin and Dr. Kim nodded in understanding.
"How is he, doctor?" Sooyoung spoke up, her patience running low as she had to wait for a few hours to hear something about Sehun.
"We managed to stop the bleeding and the surgery went smoothly. But, for now, I can't guarantee anything. His injuries were quite severe as his head received a direct hit." Dr. Kim took a breath before continuing.
"We can only hope that he can pass the critical zone. For now, we are placing him in the ICU for close monitoring." He gave them a thin smile.
"I think that's all, I'll take my leave first." As soon as Dr. Kim walked away, Sooyoung fell to the floor, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Haebin backed away with trembling legs until her back reached the wall.
She closed her eyes as she leaned back, the tears she shed earlier had already dried up and she found herself unable to cry anymore, unlike Sooyoung who was sobbing beside her.
It wasn't like Haebin didn't feel sad about what happened to Sehun, but there was this another feeling that was more disturbing than the sadness.
Disappointment.
Haebin was actually blaming herself for what happened to the boy. She had failed as a friend. She couldn't protect him.
Worst of all, she only found out about Sehun's plan after she received a call from Chanyeol. That made her wonder about Sehun's trust in her. Why didn't Sehun inform her about the matter?
Was she not good enough as a friend?
Haebin heaved a sigh, ruffling her hair in frustration. Unknowingly, the girl felt something that fell beyond her imagination.

Haebin hung up the phone after talking to Chanyeol over the line. She turned to Sehun who was lying on the hospital bed with his eyes closed.
Two months had passed, but Sehun showed no signs of waking up. The wounds that filled his body had also gradually recovered and he had been transferred to a normal ward.
Dr. Kim said there were no other complications were detected. They just had to wait for the man to open his eyes.
The girl sat on the chair next to Sehun's bed.
For the past two months, she and Sooyoung had been taking turns taking care of the man. Sehun's father also visited a few times, but his busy schedule had him return to Canada after staying in Korea for a few days.
Haebin reached for Sehun's hand, intertwining their fingers.
"Hun, Chanyeol just called earlier. He told me that Sungjae was sentenced to death. He killed Sooyoung's parents because they didn't approve of their marriage. He also threatened Sooyoung to leave you. About Sooyoung's death, she had to, Hun. To save you." Haebin paused as she gently stroked Sehun's soft hand.
"Sooyoung stood as a witness today in the court. She told them everything that happened to her parents and you. I can't imagine what she must be feeling. Your girlfriend is really great, isn't she?" Haebin's lips trembled and tears began to form.
"Everything has settled, Hun." She smiled bitterly.
"But, you..." The girl's fingers went to play with the strands of hair that were covering Sehun's forehead.
"When will you wake up?" And her question was left unanswered as she listened to the steady beeping of the heart rate monitor.

"Kim Haebin," Sooyoung's soft voice was heard, waking up Haebin who was all curled up sleeping on the chair.
"Oh, hi, Sooyoung." The girl greeted.
"You can go back now. It's my turn tonight, right?" Haebin nodded her head.
"Okay." She then got up and reached for her bag before stepping towards the door.
Just as her hand was about to reach the doorknob, a very familiar voice, a voice she had been longing to hear for these past few months, went into hearing.
The girl wasted no time as she quickly turned back, looking at the guy who finally opened his eyes.
"Sooyoung," Sehun's hoarse voice sounded. His eyes were blinking uncomfortably due to the light entering his sight.
Haebin bit her bottom lip.
Deep in the corner of her heart, she hoped Sehun would call for her first after waking up from the long nap. She knew it might sound selfish, but she was also aware of her feeling now.
That one feeling she was scared to acknowledge.
"Yes, Sehun. I'm here. Thank you for waking up." Sooyoung cried. She took Sehun's hand in hers before landing a kiss on it.
Sehun flashed the girl with a small smile before his eyes traveled to where Haebin was standing quietly as she was looking at the boy with eyes full of emotions.
"I'm so glad you finally woke up," Haebin said with a thin smile.
"W-who are you?"
And just like that, Haebin's smile faded.
