We danced for ten minutes straight before the music fell silent as Loki pulled me back in from a spin. He was staring at me softly with his mouth slightly agape as though there were words caught in his throat.
"What is it?" I asked, speaking so quietly you would have thought the library was public.
"You realise, of course, that we could never be friends?" He said.
"Why's that?" I felt the light tug on my heart strings.
"Because no being can trust a god of mischief."
I smiled softly, "Then i guess we're not going to be friends then."
"Suppose not."
"That's too bad, you're the only person I have been able to tolerate since I arrived here." I smiled gently.
Lokis lips were slightly parted as he stared at me and I stared back. We stood in a beautifully comfortable silence for a long while, feeling like it was just the two of us in the messed up world and we were just as messed up as it.
Eventually, his mouth closed, the edges turning upward. "I have traveled all nine realms, visited sights most could only dream to see. I was raised here around those who were said to be the most attractive race. I have travelled every corner of Asgard, Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, Helheim, Alfheim, Svartalfheim, Vanaheim and Muscenters. I have visited Odins vault and gazed upon the artefacts it stores. I have lived for a thousand years and travelled the entire universe yet there has never been anything or anyone that has caught my eye quite like you." He finally finished his speech without breaking eye contact the entire time.
My cheeks flushed a deep rouge and ears burned at the sincerity of his tone with each word he spoke. I was completely speechless.
"What I am trying to say is, the green looks truly glorious on you, darling." He smiled, not expecting any kind of response.
I slowly raised my hand to his cheek, studying his features before smiling back, "Tu es vraiment quelque chose, Loki Friggason. (You really are something, Loki Friggason.)"
He chuckled lightly, "Friggason?"
I laughed with him, "Your distain towards Odin is obvious. I decided it would be an insult to put your names together."
He paused for a moment before placing a gentle kiss to my forehead, "Thank you, earth-ling."
I blushed again, feeling I was unable to get any words out no matter how much I wanted to counter the name.
"They'll be missing you at the feast." I finally said, gazing into fascinating eyes.
"I doubt that. They have Thor, even if I was there it would be like I wasn't..." He took in a deep breath.
"I'm sorry... you don't deserve that..." I muttered, barely loud enough to hear.
The god let out a chuckle, "If life requires you to walk through hel, you wear your finest armour as you strut between the flames with perfect posture and act like you own the place."
I grinned widely, practically speechless as I admired the man infront of me.
After What left like an eternity but was really a mere moment of silence, he spoke again, "In an hour I will be thrown back into my cell in the dungeons, surely you would allow me to enjoy this small taste of freedom while I still can?"
"Why don't you run?" I questioned, "So far nobody has come looking and... well I won't stop you from leaving."
His smile was back again, something I would never tire from seeing, "Now is not the right time. Odin would find me in an instant and, as pathetic as it sounds, I would rather spend my time with you."
