It didn't take long for us to have flown miles away. We landed on a rooftop, climbing out soon after. I had decided to go down into the city in order to get us some snacks while Loki worked on a plan of action.
"Hey." I said, opening the door onto the roof and out of the building.
"Ah, darling you're back." He grinned upon seeing me, tapping the bit of roof next to him. I walked over and sat by his side, my legs hanging over the edge before passing him a sandwich and coffee. "Thank you."
I smiled, glancing over his shoulder to see the plans. "I'm meant to attack them?" I scoffed, "I'd loose."
"Have more faith in yourself, my love." Loki smiled, his eyes soft and gentle like they often were around me. "We will make you an army."
"We?" I asked, "Since when could you create artificial intelligent fighting robots out of scrap pieces of metal."
He let out a small laugh, "I've already gathered an army of human intelligence, they are waiting for us at a rather large, run-down office site. We'll be going tomorrow morning but first, I want you to get some beauty rest, my darling."
I couldn't help but chuckle as I gazed into the horizon. The sun was setting, causing a glorious ombré and the moon could now be seen in the orange mist.
"Do you know why everyone adores the sun?" I asked after a moment of silence. Loki looked at me, giving me his full attention as they waited for me to continue. "Because it's so bright and outshines everything. They live in hopes of bathing in its light rays, thinking that somehow it's kisses will bring them honour, beauty and make those around them envious like every other star in the galaxy." His eyebrows furrowed as my focus turned to him, "Personally, I like the moon the most." His green, emerald and confused eyes met mine in un-breaking contact, "Even when it's enlightened by the sun, it still hides behind the clouds, disguising its true potential. It's partially lightened, noticed and worshipped for it's high status but never gets the chance to show off it's full, enticing beauty." I glanced back to the moon, suddenly feeling flushed as I noticed how my words had grown into a rather obvious metaphor, "That's why I adore it..."
We both got lost in the silence, watching the sun fade away. I felt his finger interlock with my pinkie, slowly twitching his hand closer before encasing my hand in his and smiling up at the sky, "The moon adores you too."
My heart fluttered as I couldn't control the smile that grew across my face. Was he always going to have this affect on me? That was most likely.
"Where are we, anyway?" They questioned, moving his attention from the stars and gazing across the city skyline.
"Los Angeles! City of angels yet full of sin." My smile turned into a wicked grin, remembering how Jules loved this place, "Home to the devil himself, apparently." I chuckled.
Loki scoffed, "I'll believe it when I see it."
"LAPD!" A woman's voice shouted up from the ground.
I glanced over to Loki, "You think the words already spread?"
He shrugged, with a deep sigh. They took the final sip of coffee before placing it and the empty sandwich wrapper to a side, "Most likely..."
I watched as he jumped to the ground, changing into armour by magic on his way down. A tall man in a fancy, expensive, well-ironed suit was smirking up at me. I went to jump down but the man was gone and I felt a hand pulling me back up onto the roof.
