*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*

"Hmm?" I sat up to realize that it wasn't my alarm going off, it was my dads. "Daaaaaaaaaad, Turn it offfffffff!!" I yelled. I had been living here for a week and I still haven't gotten used to him getting up at 5. "Sorry Bill!". It went quiet for about 15 minutes then dad came in.

"Hey, you up?"

"Yeah I'm up, dad."

"Ok good. You mind cleaning up a bit today when I'm at work? My boss and her kids are coming over for supper. We are talking about me getting a promotion!" he said with a smile.

"That's awesome!! But, why are her kids coming too?" I asked.

"Well, one is your age, and ones a year older. I thought it might help you make friends..."

"Dad! It's not like I'm anti-social! It's not exactly easy making friends in a brand new place. Especially during the summer.."

"I know kiddo. I know.", he said laughing. "So you'll clean up?"

"Uggh, I guess." I sighed.

"Thanks, you're the best!!"

"I know." I laughed.

We hugged and dad left for work. I slept until about 12. I got up, showered, and got dressed. I put on denim high-waisted shorts and a floral shirt along with some black Vans. My face was pretty red, so I put on some makeup & put my hair in a messy bun. I adjusted the infinity necklace I always wear. My mom always said it was good luck. It was pretty cute, actually. I went downstairs and started cleaning assuming we weren't going to be in mine or my father's room. I did the dishes, vacuumed, took the garbage out, folded blankets and picked up all the pingpong balls and paddles. It was already almost time for dad to be back. I texted him,

Billy: "Hey dad, when are you home? Want me to start supper?"

I got a response almost immediately.

Dad:"I'm just leaving work. They should be there in a hour or so. I'm picking up food, so if you already cleaned, you're done!"

Billy:"Alright! See you soon!"

I had completely forgotten about the kids coming to supper too.. Dad said one of them was my age. Was it a girl? Maybe we could be best friends. She could be the one to make California even better! We could hang all the the time and gossip about cute boys! Okay, I better stop planning all this before I even meet them. I went out on my balcony. I always think better out there. When I walked out, there was a boy out there. Not on mine, of course, but beside it. He didn't notice me yet, and he was on his phone. I sat down on my chair trying to be quiet. Unfortunately, my old chair creaked when I sat down. 'Don't hear me. Don't hear me. Don't hear me....' I thought to myself. "Oh, uhm, hey!" shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit... "Hi!" I replied. Maybe I am anti-social after all. "You must be new! I'm Kian." I looked up into the most beautiful brown eyes I've ever seen. "I'm, uhmm, Billy. And yeah, I just moved here from Canada last week!" "Well it was nice to meet you Billy from Canada! I'd love to talk more, but I have to go. Talk to you later?" And he was gone.

**35 minutes later**

"I'M HOMMEEEEEE!"

I walk downstairs and give my dad a hug.

"How was work?", I asked taking a bite out of an apple. "Good! And you really shouldn't be eating. You'll be eating a huge dinner later that I 'made'", he said making air quotes with his finger when he said 'made'. "Haha, she doesn't know you can't cook?! Well, you should probably take all the tags off the containers and hide the evidence!" I said, making us both laugh. "They should be here any minute. Mind setting the table for 5 people, while I dump the evidence in the garbage?" He said stuffing everything into a bag. "Gosh I never get a break around here", I say laughing.

"DAD, THEIR HERE. I'M SURE YOU LOOK FINE! NOW, HURRY UP!!" I shouted up the stairs.

"Alright, Alright. You sound just like your mother.."

"What was that?", I said raising an eyebrow. He was forever comparing me to mom.

"Nothing, nothing.." He said pointing at the table, meaning for me to sit.

"Hello everyone!" he said opening the door.

I heard a reply of three people. One sounded like a boy..

"The dining room is just in there, if you'd like to sit in there with my daughter, while I bring in the food."

"Why thank you, Philip." It's weird to hear someone call my dad that. Usually people just called him Phil. Suddenly, my phone vibrated.

Karley: "Hey, Skype me tonight? I miss ya babe!"

I was about to text her back when I heard my name. "Hey Billy!" I looked up to see the same amazing eyes I saw earlier. "Kian?!" It was! "Oh, so you two have met before?" Kians mother asked. "Yes, just today actually. I'm Billy". I stuck my hand out. "I'm Mrs.Lawley", she said shaking my hand. "Nice to meet you! Now, I'd like you to meet my daughter, Aria!" I looked around, but I saw no one. "Aria?!" Mrs.Lawley yelled. "What?" In walked a girl maybe an inch shorter than me, with short blonde hair with a few brown streaks, and bright blue eyes. She was so pretty. I instantly felt insecure. "Hi, I'm Billy!" I said. "I'm Aria." she said. "Aria? Hmm, that's a different name.." I said looking at her. "What about Billy? Who has ever heard of a girl named Billy?" she snapped back. Had I offended her? "Alriiiiight! Who's ready to eat?!" Dad ran in with a huge chicken.

After we ate, Kian, Aria and I went downstairs to play pingpong. Well, Kian and I did. Aria texted the whole time. "Aria, why don't you try to be social for once?" Kian asked. She ignored him. "Aria? Aria?!" He looked at me, "Sorry". I shrugged.

We ended up playing only one game on pingpong then sitting on the couches just talking. "No way??!!" I asked nearly falling over from laughter. Kian is hilarious!! "Yes, I'm serious!!" he replied laughing as hard as I was. I smiled and sighed. "So, do you wanna play 21 questions?" I asked. "Yeah, sure! You first, and we'll both answer."

"Okay! 1.How old are you? I'm 15." I asked.

"16!"

"2. Favorite color? Mines blue!" Kian said pointing to his blue shirt.

"Orange!"

"3. Favorite drink? Mines lemonade!" I said with a smile.

"ARIZOOOOONAAAAAA."

"4. Are you single?" he said raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah.." I replied with a slight frown.

"Don't worry. I am too." He said smiling at me. Oh that smile. I love seeing it!

"KIAN! ARIA! IT'S TIME TO GO!"

"Awww!" Kian said.

"Okay." Aria seemed almost happy to leave. We walked upstairs and Kian and I exchanged numbers. "Don't miss me too much!!" I yelled out the door after him. I heard him laughing as the walked down the driveway. I almost forgot they lived just next door! This was going to be great! Kian and I will be good friends, and I might even become friends with Aria. Who knows? That night, when I was lying in bed, my phone went off. It was Kian!

Kian:"Goodnight beautiful :) Meet me on the balcony at 11 tomorrow morning?"

Billy:"Goodnight! :) and I'll be there!" I giggled thinking about Kian. He thought I was beautiful?
