"SURPRISE!!!"
I nearly fell backwards due to how many people were trying to get to me. I recognized most of them, but some I've never met before. "What's going on?!" I'm very claustrophobic so this wasn't a very nice situation. "A surprise party!" someone yelled. No one had ever thrown me a surprise party before. I wasn't sure really how to react. "We decided since this is your last day in Canada, we may as well have a little party for you to remember us by!" Karley said squeezing through the crowd, finally reaching me. "But who are all these people?" I asked looking around. "Well, you know most of them, but I invited a couple of my friends from elementary. That okay?" "Yeah. I guess...." I wasn't sure I was liking these 'old friends'. They were giving me weird looks and laughing. Awesome. I ended up telling everyone I had to go home and leaving at about 6. "I'll come back at 8 when everyone is gone.", I told Karley.she just nodded and went back to talking.
**2 hours later**
I had already told my mom about the party and she said it was okay for me to go visit Karley again. Maybe I could actually talk to her then. As I walked towards her house for the second time that day, I saw that the party was still going on. I walked in seeing Karley still talking to everyone. "When you leave, Karley will be my best friend again." I turned to see a girl about 3 inches taller than me with short brown hair and hazel eyes. Rachel. "She's obviously trying to replace you already. I mean, did really think this party was for you?" I was about to argue, then I realized that she was right.. This was a party for Karley to find a new best friend. She was already trying to replace me and I wasn't even gone. I felt so stupid.
**The next morning**
My alarm went off at 3am. This was it. The day I left. I wasn't sure if I should be excited or depressed. I decided it'd be better to be positive about it. I still felt pretty lousy about what Rachel said. I wasn't going to bother saying goodbye to Karley, but I thought maybe I could ask her why she really had the party. I was going to text her, but when I checked my phone, I had 4 new messages.
1. Mom: "Are you up?? We have to leave soon!!"
Billy: "Yeah, I'm up. Be down in a second..."
2. Dad: "I can't wait to see you again, princess! Text me when you are at the airport!!xox"
Billy: "Will do! And dad...I'm not 4 anymore. Don't call me princess! haha xox"
3. Rachel: "I'm going to be a much better friend to Karley than you ever could be. >:)"
I decided not to answer that.
4. Karley: "Hey. Come see me before you go. Rachel told me what she said... I'm really sorry about the party. I just didn't know how I was going to find new friends. You're still the best! Love you! xox."
Billy: "I can't come see you. I gotta go right to the airport. I'll Skype you later. Love ya. xox"
I wasn't sure if I should forgive Karley. We have been friends for so long.. The more I thought about it, the worse I felt for getting so mad at her for something silly. I mean, she wouldn't try to replace me after so many years, right? Or would she....?
