President Coin had sent me and Katniss to district 12, too see how bad the damage was. As Katniss, Colonel Boggs and I went down an elevator and towards a large air craft. Katniss locked eyes with Gale. She ran up to him and jumped into his arms, kissing him on the cheek. They exchanged a few words then we were off to district 12. They were most definitely in love, though they thought it wasn't obvious.

We neared closer to the district and landed not long after. Katniss and I were the only ones going. We wandered the empty, collapsed streets of what used to be her home. There was not a single living person or animal in sight. Katniss was shocked, so was I. We stumbled through the rubble, wandering in hopes to find something familiar, but only found mounds of human skeleton everywhere. Katniss collapsed to the ground in tears. I left her to have her moments in grief, but stayed by her side. We split ways when we arrived to the victors village, the only part of town that wasn't destroyed. She went inside her home, I went inside Peeta's. I had a few belongings there but nothing of significance. I saw one of Peeta's sweaters sitting on a chair in the dining room. I picked it up and held it close, even smelling it as well. It smelt like a bakery, so I decided I'd take it with me. I met up with Katniss and noticed she had I cat. I was always quite fond of cats so I was petting it the whole time until we got back to the air craft.

Once we arrived back, we sat down and had a meal. Katniss wasn't eating, Gale was trying to get her to eat some but he was no use, like usual. We heard the familiar music of the Capitol and looked to the screens.

Hello. Good evening. Caesar said through the tv. He had light purple hair instead of his usual blue. And a big welcome to all in Panem. I am Caesar Flickerman, and whoever you are, whatever it is your doing, if you're working, put down your work. If you're having dinner, stop having dinner. Because you are going to want to witness this tonight. There has been rampant speculation about what really happened in the Quarter Quell. And here to shed a little light on the subject is a very special guest."

As soon as he said that, I knew who would be on the screen. I jolted up and walked closer to the tv.

Please welcome, Mr Peeta Mellark

My heart dropped, I felt tears swell in my eyes. The camera changed to him. He was wearing a white suit.

Peeta, a lot of people feel as though they are in the dark. Caesar said to him.

Yeah, I know how they feel. He responded as Caesar chuckled. I looked back to Katniss, who had moved closer to Gale to seek comfort for what we were seeing.

Now, so set the stage for us. Caesar said again. Talk us through what really happened on that final and controversial night.

Well, first off, you have to understand that when you're in the Games, you only get one wish. It's very costly. Peeta responded.

It costs your life. Caesar said under his breath.

I think it costs more than your life. Peeta answered.

How do you mean? What's more than your life? Caesar asked.

I mean to murder innocent people, that costs everything that you are. Peeta replied. He sat in a very, Capitol, manor. His leg was crossed over the other, his hair was brushed back, he looked like Peeta, but also looked nothing like him at all.

Yes. Caesar said to show he was following along.

So you hold on to that one wish, and that night, my wish was to save Y/n. Peeta continued.

Yes. Caesar said again.

I should've run off with her and Katniss earlier in the day like we wanted. Peeta continued again.

But you didn't. Caesar said. Why? Were you caught up in Beetee's plan?

No, I was caught up trying to play allies. Peeta answered. Then they separated us, and that's when I lost her. He paused for a moment. And then the lightning hit, and the whole force field around the arena just blew out.

Yes, but, Peeta. Katniss and Y/n were the ones who blew it out. Caesar told him. You saw the footage.

No, they didn't know what they were doing. Peeta paused. Neither of us knew there was a bigger plan going on. We had no idea.

You had no idea? Caesar asked.

No. Peeta answered.

All right. Well, Peeta, there are many who find this suspicious, to say the least. Peeta nodded. It seems as though they were a part of a rebel plan.

Do you think it was part of their plan to be almost killed my Johanna? Peeta asked in annoyance. Or part of the plan to be paralysed by lightning? No, we were not part of any rebel plan. We had no idea what was going on.

All right. I believe you, Peeta Mellark. Thank you. Caesar said. And I was going to ask you to speak about the unrest but, I think you might be too upset.

No, no, I can. Peeta replied.

Thank you. Caesar responded and allowed him to speak.

I want everyone who's watching to stop, and to think about what a civil war could mean. We almost went extinct once before. And now our numbers are even fewer. Is this really what we wanna do? Kill ourselves off? Killing is not the answer. Everyone needs to lay down their weapons immediately.

Everyone started to yell, saying he was a traitor, saying to hang him. I covered my ears. It was too loud, but I could hear everything everyone was saying, even as the yells heaped together. I ran out of the room, I could bare to hear anything else.
