Chapter 10

•Alex's P.O.V•

My eyes slowly fluttered open. My vision was blurry for a moment. Everything looked foggy... Everything felt foggy... My head was pounding. My left arm stung. My body was tingling...

I sat up slowly. It wasn't clear at first, but I was still wearing my school uniform. My shoes weren't on my feet anymore. My vision began to clear. I looked around. I was in my room, in my bed. The room was quiet. And dark. Why was it so dark?

I got up and made my way to the door. I turned the handle and walked through the doorway. My entire team was sitting in the common room...and so was Nurse Evergreen? What was she doing here? Everyone turned to me.

"Uh...hey everyone." I said weakly. "What's going on?"

Zielo let out a relieved sigh as he made his way to me. He hugged me and pulled away a second later. "How are you feeling?"

I stared at him blankly. "Um...fine, I guess?" I said. "My head and arm sting a little though. Also, what's Nurse Evergreen doing here? Did someone get hurt?"

"You don't remember?" Zielo tilted his head in concern.

I thought for a moment. Then memories started pouring into my mind. My flames felt different during combat class, my feet were tingling since Herbology, I could hear voices during Pyrokinetics when the class was dead silent. By back hurt since Geography, my arm felt like it was freezing when I walked into the common room... Then when I went into my room and shut the door, I felt a sharp pain coursing through my body.

And then...a spark.

"Right...I remember now." I looked down at my left arm. I could still feel the sparks dancing all over my skin. My eyes widened as a new thought jumped to my mind.

"Wait, where's Zack? Is he okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, Al." I heard from behind Zielo. I tilted my head and found Zack waving, sitting next to Keith. His head and hands were bandaged.

I let out a sigh of relief. Nurse Evergreen stood up and made her way to me. He eyes and hands were glowing. She let out a sigh.

"It hasn't even been a week and you've already found a way to injure yourself. I'm not sure whether to be impressed or concerned for you at this point." She joked. I blushed in embarrassment.

She placed her hand on my chest and closed her eyes. The area glowed a bright green for a second before she pulled her hand back.

"Okay, everything seems fine." She smiled. "Your core is stable, and your blood is circulating normally."

"That's good to hear." I said in a tired yawn.

"Well, I'd better head back to my office. If anything else happens, let me know." Nurse Evergreen said walking to the door. "Take care, students."

"You too, mom." Natalie said. The nurse flashed her a smile then walked off. But not a second later, she poked her head through the doorway, her eyes locking with mine.

"Oh, and Koran has been notified about what happened earlier. He told me to tell you that he wanted to meet you in his office tomorrow morning before your first lesson." She said. I nodded, then she left again. The room grew silent for a moment.

"So, uh..." Cameron spoke nervously. "...who's gonna tell him?"

I shot him a curious stare. "What? What happened?"

Cameron's Eyes flew to Keith. Keith shook his head. "Nope. Damian-."

"Why me!?" Damian cut Keith off.

"Because you're the smart one. You can find a way to break it to Alex gently."

"I'm sorry, what?" I said in surprise.

"Yeah, that's not my strong suit." Damian said, arms crossed. "Celest can, though."

"What do you mean!? I have no clue how to explain this kind of stuff to a person, I can't tell him!" Celest yelled.

"Guys!" I called out to them. They all turned to me. I let out a breath. "Just, someone...tell me what's going on. Please."

They all looked at each other, exchanging glances, their mouths shut tight. I heard a sigh from Zielo. I turned to him.

"Have you looked at yourself in the mirror at all since you woke up?" He asked. I tilted my head slightly.

"No. Why?" I asked, puzzled. Zielo scratched the back of his head nervously.

"Okay, don't freak out." He said. "But, your hair and eyes are-"

"Wait, what about my hair? Is something wrong with it? Is it all messed up, or something?"

"No, your hair is fine. It's just..." Zielo hesitated for a moment. "...it's not the same fiery red it always was."

I raised my eyebrow. I held a few strands in front of my eyes, and they widened a bit. I then dug into my pockets' but upon finding nothing in them, I looked up to my team.

"Does anyone have a mirror?"

Everyone's eyes turned to Celest. She sighed. "Fine. Just don't freak out, okay?"

She snapped her fingers, and in a flash of soft pink light, a small mirror appeared in her hand. I walked over to her and she handed it to me. I held it in front of my face, and what I saw in my reflection left me in shock. My eyes went wide.

Just like Zielo had said, my hair and eyes weren't red anymore. They were an electric yellow!

I ran my hand through my hair, and through the reflection, all I saw were small yellow bolts that sparked as my fingers moved. I stood there in silence, unable to speak. I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Uh...you okay, Alex?" I heard Keith say nervously. His voice sounded slightly muffled.

My body began to tingle with a static sensation, almost like pins and needles, but with a slight jolt of electrical energy pulsing through my body. I set Celest's mirror down next to her and took a step back. A thought crossed my mind...

I held out my hand and focused my energy to my palm. It felt more electrifying the more I focused. Then, with a snap of my fingers, bolts of lightning swirled around my arm from my elbow into my palm and a ball of soft yellow energy appeared, crackling with electricity. Everyone's eyes turned to me in shocked silence. My eyes also widened. And for a second, time seemed to stand completely still.

"Lightning..." I muttered. "I'm holding a ball of lightning..."

My eyes fixated in the glowing orb. I looked up at the rest of my team, my expression laced with fear, but also excitement.

"So I guess that proves it." Zielo said quietly. My eyes turned to him.

"Proves what?"

The room grew silent once more. Then Zielo took a breath.

"Alex, you're a multi-elemental."

Everything seemed to slow down in that noment. For a second, the crackling ball of energy in my hand felt like it wasn't there. My vision began to blur. My head felt fuzzy. My body felt weightless for a while. I felt the air rushing past my face.

Then, everything faded to black.

Author's Notes

I'm really happy with how this one turned out, not as much as the last one, but I still had a little fun with writing it. Also, it's finally confirmed; Alex has more than 1 type of elemental magic. How will the rest of his magic manifest? What'll happen when he does? You'll have to find out in the later chapters to come.

I've been waiting to do this for a while. I have so much planned for him now. And remember the collaboration I mentioned before the story started? Well, that's gonna get started pretty soon, so stay tuned. But thats it from me, I'll see you in the next chapter.
