After the night at the club, I haven't been talking to Andre or Drake much. I figured I needed to push forward in my life and get out of that rough patch that I was going through.
I've been spending more time with Abby. I went over to her place a lot to play video games with her. I felt myself wanting to ask her about Brooklyn but I never mustered up the courage to. I knew they were close friends now so she probably wouldn't tell me anything Brooklyn told her that was confidential.
Brooklyn and I hadn't talked much since that night and I was dying to talk to her and ask her where we stood from here. As the days went by, I started to realize that maybe it was a one night thing for her and nothing more.
I didn't know why but that thought made me upset.
"Hello? Jameson?" Abby snapped her fingers in front of my face a few times before I finally snapped out of my thoughts.
"Huh?" I asked. I had no idea what she was saying. I think I had been zoning out for the past few minutes.
"I asked if you wanted to play another round?" Abby asked, using her controller to point at the tv.
"Oh uh sure," I replied, pressing a button on the controller to continue to the next round.
"What's up with you? You've been zoning out all day," Abby asked, picking her character in the game we were playing. We were playing Mario Kart and she always picked Yoshi while I always picked Dry Bones.
"I don't know. I guess I have a lot on my mind," I replied, trying to be as vague as I could.
Abby looked hesitant at what she was about to say next. I saw her glance at me out of the corner of my eye but decided not to face her. "Is this about Brooklyn?" She finally asked.
I felt my jaw clench at the question. Were we really going to be talking about this now? I mean it would be the perfect time to bring up my questions that I had.
I shrugged. "I guess. I don't know where we stand at the moment. Things are just awkward," I explained, throwing out a "red shell" in the game to hit the player behind me.
"Hmm funny she said the same thing," she muttered, focusing more on the game now.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. So Brooklyn did talk about it with Abby.
I took this opportunity to pry some information out of Abby. She knew both sides so she had to give me valuable input. I was her best friend first.
"So what are her thoughts on the whole thing?" I asked, trying to make it sound casual.
She sighed. "Jameson you know I can't say much. Just like how you wouldn't want me to tell her stuff you tell me. Let's just say, she's upset you haven't called or texted."
That surprised me. I assumed she didn't want to talk because she didn't reach out first but that thought could've gone both ways.
"I see," was all I could say. I didn't know what else to say.
