"Can you believe it? The school year is almost over, we're gonna be seniors soon," Stacey sighed happily.
"For some reason that thought isn't that appealing to me," Abby groaned. "Not looking forward to having to apply to Universities."
"I feel you, girl," Andrea added. "But that's a problem for next year."
"I guess you're right. This summer is going to be for healing and growth," Abby smiled, determination written all over her face.
Last night, Abby told us that Andre and her had broken up. She told us that they had been arguing for a while and they ultimately agreed to mutually end things because he refused to change his lifestyle. I think Abby was mostly hurt because she could see a future with him but she knew it wouldn't work out if he couldn't see a future for himself. He seemed perfectly content working at a restaurant and living with roommates for the rest of his life.
You couldn't change someone unless they actually wanted to be changed.
She was sad for a few days but eventually, the old Abby we knew and love started to come back slowly. I knew she needed time to fully heal because even though they hadn't been dating for a long time, she liked him for a couple years already. I think her fast healing had something to do with our countless girl nights we had been having since she told us about her break up.
"Guys, I've been kind of seeing someone. You'll never guess who it is," Stacey smirked. We were all making our way out the big wooden doors of our school because we all decided to ditch today.
We wanted to get milkshakes at the local dinner.
"Dating or hooking up?" I asked, trying to clarify how serious this "relationship" was. Stacey was never a fan of relationships so if she was actually dating someone, it would be a big deal.
"Hooking up," Stacey snorted, giving me a look that said "really?"
"I was just making sure," I defended, rolling my eyes playfully.
"Who is it?" Andrea pushed, growing excited. Stacey hadn't really had a "friends with benefits" type relationship since Drake. She had one night stands but never someone who she would consistently hook up with.
"Hayden," Stacey smiled.
"Carter? Hayden Carter?" Andrea gasped.
"Wasn't he dating Chloe?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. I swear I remembered them making out in the halls all the time. It was disgusting.
