I decided that I was going to ask Brooklyn to be my girlfriend today. I had been planning on doing it ever since our New York trip but I wanted everything to be perfect.
I was really starting to like her and I wanted us to be exclusive. I hated thinking of her with someone else. I just wasn't entirely sure she was on the same page as me.
"How was Christmas? I heard you spent it with Brooklyn's family," Abby grinned.
We were hanging out at her house, playing video games again. This was like a weekly routine with us at this point.
"It was really fun," I told her. "Mom loved it because she got to catch up with some high school friends."
"Wait your mom knew Brooklyn's parents in high school?" She asked, sounding surprised.
"Yeah apparently," I muttered, focusing on the screen. We were playing Mario Kart again and I wanted to beat her this time.
"So what are you going to do? Do you like Brooklyn or are you guys just messing around?" Abby asked, staring at the screen.
"I like her. A lot," I admitted. "I'm thinking of asking her to be my girlfriend."
"No way! Really?" Abby asked, sounding really excited. "When?"
"Maybe tomorrow," I shrugged, throwing a red shell at her in the game.
"Fuck you," she muttered. "How are you going to ask her?"
"Hm I'm not sure. What do you think I should do?" I asked, smashing the accelerate button my controller before crossing the finish line a second before Abby.
She turned to glare at me. I threw her a smug look before turning my full attention towards her.
"She likes picnics and the beach," She said, tapping her chin like she was thinking deeply. "You could do something with that."
Then an idea clicked in my head.
"I have an idea but I'm going to need your help," I told her, smiling to myself at my genius plan.
Then a thought came to my mind.
"What if she says no?" I asked, frowning slightly at the thought.
"Don't be stupid. She's not going to say no," Abby snorted. "And sure I'll help you since I love you both. I want to see you guys happy."
"Okay if you say so. I'm trusting you."

"So where are we going?" Brooklyn asked, excitement laced her voice as she followed me out to my car.
I opened the passenger side door for her and she smiled gratefully in return. She was wearing a pair of black flair leggings with a beige puffer jacket. She had her hair up in a half updo and she was wearing a pair of white sneakers.
